Hildi72's Journal, 16 October 2012

Ok, looking better. Was unable to work out today due to an early meeting but looking forward to working out tonight at home. Ate a bit better and looking to get back on track. I think that the weight I have to lose is in my upper body and my thighs. As I look at my body, I realize that some of my future weight loss will occur in my muscles, my thighs are muscular and my chest has some muscle. My mid section still has fat but it is really reduced. My waist went from a size 43 to about a size 36. Exercise will reduce the fatty areas I believe and help kick boost my weight loss.

Thoughts for the Day:

1) The three R's of your Career - Yesterday, a colleague of mine resigned from his position. We were peers and he was a good dude. The issue is that he just felt like he was being passed over for promotions and that affected his ability to perform his job. We had a long talk and I told him of the mantra that I follow that leads me to assess my career from time to time. The three r's of my career are: Respect, Recognition and Reward. If I am not respected for the work I do,I know its time for a change. If my hard efforts are not recognized by my management it is time to reassess. Finally, if my hard efforts are not rewarded then its time to make a decision. The three R's are what I require to maintain a sense of pride at what I do, to know that I am not just pushing against a wall, to know that my efforts have been observed, appreciated and awarded. I am your typical Type A individual. I am driven to be the best at anything I do. I do not wait to be told to do something, I try and be proactive so that I am ahead of the curve. As a Type A, I need to feel that pride of a job well accomplished but I also need to know that my efforts are not in vain. After my conversation, my colleague shook my hand and said "Dude, you have it completely right." It was nice to hear...

2) The Season is Changing - As the weather outside is changing, head hunting season has begun in my little neck of the woods. While my institution has enacted a hiring freeze, the private sector is loading up for bear in several areas. Now, that doesn't mean its a jobs-a-a-palooza but the headhunters are on the hunt for people with specific skills in regulatory compliance. I have received emails and calls asking me to come in for interviews...now, for me, the time for a change is not right. My daughter is young and I do not have want to travel substantially and miss her blossom into a young woman. SO, for now, I file these names and numbers away. Additionally, I will only make a move into what is called the C-suite...Chief ******* *****. I have worked my tail off and will not go backwards.......however, its funny to get these calls...the numbers are crazy but its not right for me...at this time. Yes, the headhunting season has begun.

Look at how far you've come! I've finally started noticing I have muscles places. It's one thing to have them but another thing to see them! I love the three R's and 2 makes alot of sense. I never realized that before. It makes sense though. This explains why I'm getting emails and monster messages about jobs suddenly opening up in my area. Now if only I could find a job where I could work from home.

I was really happy to see that you had a loss today! I could feel your discouragement between the lines of what you wrote, probably because I have been there so many times. DFW: If you really want to work from home, put your thoughts into focus on that. 7 years ago I was a teacher, and I said (jokingly, I thought), "I wish I had a job where I could work from home, set my own schedule, and make a lot more money." So about a year from that time, I found myself working from home, setting my own schedule, and making a lot more money. An educational software company hired me as a sales rep, I left teaching and never looked back. I didn't choose the specifics of my desired job, just how I wanted it to look. Results that followed thoughts have happened to me over and over in my life. Positive thoughts!
