Crazy Up day?!!?

Bathroom Scale: 219 lbs
Fitbit Scale: 218.5 lbs

Going to go with the Bathroom scale, just to be conservative. Its hard sometimes to understand how you maintain a caloric deficit but you go up in weight. Again, it may be the body's way of fighting the weight loss. I know I don't feel bigger. I had a similar issue in London I believe so maybe this is a cycle of some sort. I know for a fact that I should, logically, not be gaining but losing weight. I will need to kick it up a notch. More on this later on my journal update...

Morning QUICK Update:

I have little time to get my thoughts down as I have to prep for a meeting and also go to a "Morale boosting" outing with my department. Hmm, first off thanks to Suzy161 in the comments area. Its good to hear some reassurance as you see your numbers climb in the weight category. I have had similar episodes in my weight chart before. I do think its possibly water related. I will continue to monitor it and see. I don't feel bigger at all, in fact, I feel slimmer around the waist.

Thoughts of the Day:

1) 36 - I am considering buying a pair or two of size 36 slacks. My 38's are a little loose and I want to see how size 36 feels now. The size 38 belt was probably the first sign but the loose pants are a good sign that I need to pick up some pants...

2) Neck vs. Body - I can probably fit a size 16 or 15 1/2 shirt, but my neck is sized about 17. I am a stout guy and my body type is best described as "NFL running back Barry Sanders like". I have muscular thighs, a thick neck and broad shoulders. The typical male body does not have these features. I have to find a happy medium....I need a nice fitting shirt that doesn't look bloated simply because my neck is thick.

3) Time to Kick it up - I am feeling like I need to kick up and start exercising. In 2010, I started exercising when I hit 230 lbs. I was planning to start when I went under 200 but I am getting the urge to start, I think I need to get my muscles in gear and start the aerobic burn. What does that mean? Crunches, push ups and Burpees. I did not know what a Burpee was but now that I know I want to do them. Bottom line, I need to kick it up a notch...

Your body is made up of 60% water, so it fluctuates hourly. Just eating too much sodium one day can make the scale go up the next. Many factors can cause the scale to temporarily go up in water weight including: hormones, medicine, being sick, sore muscles from exercise, inflammation, sodium in foods and drinks, etc. Your chart has a mostly downward spiral, so you are doing amazing. Don't worry about a temporary gain. It will go away. Just stick with it.

Hildi my brother has the same problem and he gets most of his shirts custom made - not as expenive as it sounds. Here is a link for one place that makes shirts for $80. http://www.indochino.com/collection/Mens-Dress-Shirts?gclid=CKjggcrz57ICFc5cMgodKEIAfg I am sure that living in NYC there are bound to be many other places that do it there too! Nothing looks better than a nicely tailored shirt!!! Hope you are having an awesome day!

Yup - suzi161 is correct! Google an article titled "Why the Scale Lies" and then keep it to read when you get frustrated!

About the shirt thing... My hubby has that problem. He has found that buying the newer style tapered shirts helps. That way he can get a bigger neck without the torso being huge. Yup I battle the scale and bloating regularly, it's really a mental game and it sucks. Hopefully it's all temp and no biggie :-)

Okay even though it was in the early 70's I use to work in a men's clothing store (fond memories). We rarely sold shirts that did not have to be tapered or have the sleeves shortened. :)
