amanda123's Journal, 10 June 2010

Well I am back down this morning 252.8. I am having trouble breathing today. My asthma is flaring back up and I thought my inhaler was in my purse but it isn't. I am going to drink some coffee in a minute and that usually helps. I don't know if it is the steam or something about the coffee itself but coffee helps and ice cream especially a chocolate shake can bring on an atack for me. It is rainy this morning. More of a mist than anything but changes in the weather affect my asthma. I took my 3rd economics quiz and I made a 77. I really needed to study longer on that chapter. I can take the quiz again so I am going to study more and do that tonight. Tomorrow is my first exam over Intro - Ch 3. I'm nervous. I want to do well. I would love to make at least a B but as they say C's get degrees.... or even D = Diploma LOL!

Yes, the caffeine in coffee will help to open the airways. The steam will also help but it's the caffeine so the stronger the better. It's a good thing that ice cream and shakes cause a flare up. There are no more excuses as to why you want one now is there. They are so deadly. Sorry about the quiz. I am sure you will do great on the exam. You are a very smart cookie.

Are you on a preventative for your asthma?..I use sembicort and ventolin for a rescue inhaler..I've had asthma since I was about 3 yrs old. Icecream and cold drinks like shakes effect me, as a kid icecream was a sure way for an asthma attack. I carry my rescue inhaler with me all the time. I feel for you Amanda struggling for breath is a scary thing. Maybe you could keep on at work for times like this. :)

THIRTY-FIVE POUNDS!?!?! Congratulations Amanda! That is AMAZING! And poor thing, you're suffering with breathing problems-- what a reward.. :( Ohh and economics? Eh, who cares about that stuff anyway? (Maybe that's why we're in a recession..) Haha!

LOL Alexandra - my husband really follows politics - I hate them - just not interested in it - I guess I should be but it is so boring to me. I wish he was the one having to take this class, it's right up his alley. Lenny, yes I have my inhaler, it is pro-ventil I think. My asthma has been pretty good lately so I haven't had to worry about it. I'm sure it is in my medicine cabinet at home. When I remember to take my Advair every day the asthm atacks stay away but I haven't taken it in a few days. They probably discovered my asthma when I was about that age too. As a kid I would have an attack if I pet a horse, cat, even some dogs. Played in the hay, if we had a live Christmas tree, feather pillows, and chocolate or ice cream. Oh also playing hard such as riding a bike or running. When the weather changes especially in the winter it gets really bad. Warm - Cold - Warm - Cold really gets me. If I am outside in the cold air and come inside to get warm I start wheezing. I really have to stay in or out or I will have a bad attack. I used to have to go to the emergency room every winter but the last year was better. The year before that I had to borrow my sisters machine and take breathing treatments for weeks before it straightened out. Why couldn't we have been one of those lucky people who just grew out of it?
