I just tried standing overhead barbell press yesterday for the first time. Love at first lift. What a fantastic upper body move that nobody has ever suggested! Fortunately I had a light 15 lb bar at home so I could do all 5 sets with proper form. Used mindpump media's YouTube instructional. I definitely hit areas of my lats that lat pull downs & dumbbell rows are not hitting.

Glad you are paying attention to form! Tight core and spine alignment are really important as you increase your poundages. That move does make you feel empowered, I agree; not just lifting but balancing at arm's length overhead while standing. Glad you found one to love!

Thanks Tom! Yeah, at my age being careful about form is crucial. My trainer is going to observe & record my barbell overhead press alignment/ form on Friday. I'm also going to start barbell bench press Friday too. So far I've only done mid incline w/ dumbells ( I'm at 35 pounds ea) and I can do push-ups from the floor now too but I'm looking forward to starting traditional bench press.

Good for you! I just googled that to see what it is. Seems like a cool one for me to ask my trainer about.
