Draglist's Journal, 28 January 2017

Check out my four week weight trend from TrendWeight.com. Thanks to member JockoT for recommending this. It is fed by my Fitbit data, which I update daily on my iPhone (before recording it here). So it is much more granular than my Fatsecret weigh ins, which I do once a week (using the lowest recorded weight for that week). I am happy to see a slow trend downward, but it gives me a bit of melancholy to see how low I've been in the past two years compared to now. As always, I'm trying to find that secret formula again! Targeting 798 calories on Saturday and 2400 on Sunday (or an average of 1599 per day).

At least it's going down again now.

Wow, that's a lot of fluctuation, and yet a very consistent trend - interesting.

It's going down, that's the good thing. Have you tried real fasting, without any calories on your fasting day? Dr. Jason Fung has a book out on Intermittent Fasting (as well as a blog and youtube videos which are wonderful informative). I was stalled, and started a 42h fast routine where you eat lunch and dinner one day, and fast until the day after next when you have lunch and dinner again. This helped me move the scale again. A 24h fast was not working for me. Just water, black unsweetened coffee or tea. I've done 36h and 48h fasts as well, and I'm trying to make my body guess when it will get food again, so it wont get used to it. :) Good luck!

Yep it looks good to me, too. I just checked my TrendWeight and it's disheartening but still good to see what I have done over the past year. I have my work cut out for me.

Lots of factors involved in the fluctuation in weight I'd say.

I thought you might like it, to change things up. It's a great article, I'm sure your wife will relax after reading the article. You might also like his series on Calories. I've noted you work a lot with calories. https://intensivedietarymanagement.com/how-do-we-gain-weight-calories-part-1/ there is a lot to read, but so worth it.

Calories do matter, but I think what kind of calories. I know I have a long way to go to get to my goal weight, but I'm not tracking my food now. Last year I used to weight every bite I ate, and track here on Fatsecret. I lost a lot of weight, gained it all back the last three months of last year. I could not handle the weighing and tracking, I'd rather stay fat I told myself. Then I read an article of a couple with a blog and youtube videos, they tracked everything for years, but not anymore. I think it's crazy to go at eating like that. Now I'm not weighing and not tracking, have lost 15lbs since Dec. 25th, just eating real food, nothing processed. I'm eating ketogenic diet, and I'm in optimal nutritional ketosis, thanks to the fasting I think. On the days I eat, I have lunch and dinner and try to get as many healthy foods as possible in those two meals. It seems to work for me now. I just don't want to be a slave to counting calories again, it made me miserable. :)
