Anyone else finding out that losing weight is expensive? And I'm not talking about forking over the extra cash to get the "good foods" instead of "cheap junk"...although now that I think of it, that is one factor.

But no, I'm askin' because I'm having a devil of a time paying a jeweler to resize all of my rings. $300 just to do my wedding set!

Don't get me wrong; I love that I've lost enough weight to be back in my high school/college clothing sizes, but when I began this life-altering journey back in January, I just didn't realize how pricey it would get to resize existing jewelry in addition to having to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes and lingerie. I expected the clothing costs...which is why I adore second-hand stores. After all I wanted to lose the "thunder thighs" and "pudgy tummy", but now my fingers are shrinking, too! Down TWO sizes, in fact! *Someone up above is laughing at me. I know it.*

The only thing I don't have to replace are my shoes. Thank heavens for that! LOL

I'd rather have the expense of resizing rings (which i didn't bother with seeing my wedding bank cost all of 30 bucks at service merchandise, I just don't wear it) then the expensive of high blood pressure pills, diabetes medications, depression meds (weight issues make some people have to be on meds), buying 2 seats on an airplane cause you can't fit into one. I'm sure the long term medicals costs outweight (pun intended) the cost of a gym membership, better food, and new clothing. I have gotten all my smaller clothing at thrift stores, but once I'm at my goal i would like to splurge on some actual New clothing, not just new to me.

You can do the poor white trash version of getting your rings to fit. A bit o tape wrapped around the band ;)

LOL - same problem I noticed with my watch the other day while I was running, it was flopping all over my arm. First I thought it was broken, now I realize it is just too big! I don't wear any other jewelry so I wouldn't notice the ring thing, but I guess it makes sense. $300 is a lot to make some thing smaller I think, I could understand I guess if they were adding gold/silver to enlarge. Can you shop around at all?

Good point icy. We're hoping with my hubby's weight loss that he'll be able to get off some of the many meds he has to take. I'd much rather be healthy and broke instead of unhealthy and still broke. LOL And I really didn't think of how much I spent over the years as I gained the weight...buying larger and larger sizes. It only struck me because I lost the pounds faster than I gained them. That replacement time span was greatly reduced. Thank goodness of "sales" and thrift stores! Oh, and coupons! LOL :) Yeah, gg, I could shop around, but it's all the same because my set is three rings melded together. The cost comes in having to separate them, resize each one and then reconnect them into a single ring. My other cocktail rings and such won't be quite as expensive as this one, but the pricey one is the most important (emotionally speaking; I don't like going around without my wedding set on).

Your rings sound beautiful, I can't blame you for wanting to wear them at all. Isn't it just crazy how the money always seems to go someplace? I hope hubby gets off the meds!
