Lazy Ways to Lose Weight All December Long, According to Science

#3 Buy Your New Year's Celebration Outfit Now
"Buy your New Year's outfit early this holiday season," says Susan Bowerman, M.S., RD, CSSD, CSOWM, FAND, the former assistant director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition. "Try it on, take a selfie, and keep it where you can see it. Thinking about how great you'll look on that special night can keep you motivated during the hectic weeks leading up to it."

#4 Don't Skip Your Meals
For many it's counterintuitive, but for us at Eat This it's gospel: If you want to burn more energy, you've got to keep eating the right foods to ensure that your metabolism is always firing. "When you skip any meal your blood sugar falls throughout the day," says Richard Lipman, MD. "You arrive at the next meal not only hungry, but with low blood sugar. The result is a low energy level, which means less exercise and physical activity. Making bad choices like eating at fast food restaurants or having large meals is the result. Experiencing low blood sugar at lunch or late in the afternoon when lunch is skipped often leads to overeating and loss of control."

Great tips and another tip that I use year round is that I wear my skinny jeans almost daily because they are a true tell sign if I am gaining some weight thru my waist. I love my leggings for workouts but they have some give so I can't live in them!

@Redporchlady I totally understand. I have some jeans with zero stretch and they keep my honest ha I also have workout leggings. I don't wear them in public unless under a dress. Kind of feel like I'm in undies or something.

True on not skipping meals. While I do eat meal bars or shakes frequently, they keep my blood sugar steady. I eat lean dinners, "usually" unless a hamburger jumps into my path after work ha

Wisteria...🤣you cracked me up with the mental image of the hamburger jumping into your path!!🍔👹 I agree with keeping my blood sugar steady and also rely on protein shakes to sometimes tide me over. Totally related to feeling uncomfortable wearing leggings in public except under long tunics...I've seen way too many truly, unbelievably unflattering outfits at Walmart involving leggings...😲

Redporchlady, Good morning!🌞 So true about wearing skinny jeans to gage weight gain/bloating...It's definitely a motivator when that waist band starts diggin' in!!

@CrystalJo74 Gotta keep a watch out for them or fried chicken. And so true on the people of Walmart posts.

Thanks CJ..I saw your response to my post earlier and I truly appreciate your support. I can tell by the way my pants feel that that is where I gained. I will honestly post my measurements later after I see nutritionist. 💜💜💜

Stay in denial...take batteries out of scale. Hide scale in closet. Wear baggy clothes.

Am kidding...I weigh and measure all food on digital scale...I do not weigh me..that is a set up..and FOR ME..I do not eat flour and sugar. I stay out of the Frito Lay aisle ...I remind myself I have tasted it all before...and I do not just want a serving...gimme that whole damned bag. A serving for me. Tostitos drug of choice. Baked of course.
