Thank you all for your kindness. I know I'm not alone in experiencing the pain of seeing a loved one disappear before our eyes, many of you share this pain and sorrow. All we can do is love them.

So sorry for the sadness due to your friend's declining health and it's being reminiscent of your mother's aging. Hugs.

My mom is in end stage dementia. Some days she remembers us and some she doesn't but I just talk about her parents, husband kids stories that my nephew says I should put in a family history so everyone can remember.

I'll add myself as a fellow survivor of a loved one having Dementia. It's a terrible, cruel disease, and I'm sorry you've experienced it too & are now again. I used to think that they don't know that they're losing it, but in some cases they do when they have moments of lucidity. It makes it even more tragic. Seeing them decline when they were brilliant is the last cut. 🫂💔

Shirley, I know it’s hard to see your friend in mental decline. But don’t stop reaching out to her. She needs her friends and community right now to keep her connected to people that can help her.
The comments that Snowwhite100 are spot on. I have researched dementia since my mother had it for several years.
My mother had no memory issues until my Dad pass away. She was never drank alcohol, but started drinking wine, after a dumb doctor told her it would help her with sleep issues she was having.
It became a real issue for her and that is was the dementia issues started.
I believe that as you age, alcohol is something that you should limit.
I pray your friend will have your love and support. 🙏🏻
