sometimes when you get lazy with the calories counting a few loose eating habits can pack on pounds or fool you. it happened to me within the past month as far as my diet. i was snacking on raisins and was in denial about how many calories were in one cup of raisins. i would sit and eat between one to two cups of raisins for a snack went to the foods section here and found that one cup of raisins is little under 500 calories and i was consuming sometimes 2 cups of raisins a whopping 1000 calories. this neglect of counting calories can really put your diet off and cause you to wonder why your not losing weight. watch those deceptive foods such as raisins foods that i thought were low calorie/low fat.

raisins are low fat but if you overeat them they can become fattening.

That is crazy! One thing I have found incredible too is what an actual serving of something really looks like. For instance take pasta...a serving is not a whole plate full...lol! I lived in denial for many years thinking my eating wasn't really all that bad. Then once you start counting calories and measuring out servings sizes you see real quickly just how much you were eating before and the insane amount of calories you could consume in one meal. It has been an eye opener for sure!

Dried fruits are very high calorie because they take the water out. A cup of dried raisins is a lot more fruit than a cup of grapes. Eat the grapes. They will fill you better and hydrate you at the same time.

i was in denial also about serving sizes , its the deceptive foods that are really fattening the raisins, pasta, sugar, vegetable oils, dried fruits, fried foods, things that you think aren't fattening or are in denial about but add pounds if you just eat larger portion sizes. i also thought the serving sizes on labels were a joke but they were not a joke so yeah you need to read the serving sizes and try to get used to eating only the recommended serving size.

some of the most deceptive high calorie foods for me that i was overconsuming the type of food that once i took a bite i couldnt stop before my diet and contributed to my major weight gain were, nuts (cashews, almonds, raisins, pistachios, peanuts, tortilla chips dipped in (guacamole, salsa),meats fried in oil, meat pizza (400 calories per slice) now i know how many calories were packed in such small portions

i've given up the obviously calorie laden bad food, chocolates, donuts, cookies, cakes, ice cream, pizza, but the deceptive foods i'm still trying to eliminate from my diet as they were stealthily/deceptively causing havoc to my weight loss program without my knowledge/ but now every day i'm discovering some new deceptive foods the latest one is 100 percent fruit juices and smoothies/ with stealth sugar added avg 100 to 200 calories per 8 ounce glass.

I feel what you're saying. That type of thinking has derailed my attempts many times. You just get back on track and like you said, you're finding those foods that you thought were okay but were deceiving. Good luck.
