🤨 I see why we all go in a panic when we are not home. Loss of mouth control out of respect of the family chef and my weight scale for food and body are not readily available. So logging food it is 🤥oh I won’t be able to weigh in today either.

I used to get my scale out and try to weigh food that I hadn't prepared myself. Then I just let it go and when I eat food I didn't prepare I add 20-30% to the amount I estimate since it is probably more than I imagined. whipping out the food scale at restaurants or friendly dinners just wasn't a way to live.

Hey, you’re in the green!!👍 Better mouth control than I!!😣 Logging for sure is the answer, but my typing often can’t keep up with my mouth!!🙁 Good luck to you, and stay in the green, it’s a terrible thing to lose!🌸

Traveling is tough as is any circumstance where control of your foods made by the cook are not in your control. What is in your control is portions. After weighing and portioning your foods for a while you KNOW the difference between “enough” and “too much”, and that is basically all you need to know. You know that if it has a sauce it is higher in calories. You know that if it is a cassarole

Oops—-a casserole will probably be higher in calories. You do the best that you can do. Don’t dwell on weighing yourself in these situations. Why frustrate yourself. You acknowledge that this is a tricky situation, do the BEST you can do and move on. When you get home, you return to your normal way of eating. Just don’t use these episodes as an excuse to go off the rails. A friend of mine always says— “it may not be my plane, but I am still the pilot”.

Being the pilot Kenna, is a great way to look at it.👍

Some away from home moments ... are a bit like --- ripping the wing off of your plane and landing on your belly on the tarmac .... managing to get back still alive and standing under the open sky on your weigh scale ... while saying ... "What a trip - I made it and I am back !!!

Oats I agree it’s not practical. I tried that one time and it didn’t looked right at the in laws place.

Shrew I felt empowered to say no to the desserts. I knew those were the heavy hitters in every meal. We just do our best and not stress 👍🏽

Thanks Kenna. I could tell the difference when I will gain and when I can have control. When I go on vacations I maintain the weight but when it comes to the in laws it is true all reasoning and control goes out the window. Plus there’s the respect the chef factor. I do try to limit my portions but after the visit it is good to go back to focus.

Jergen 🤔 I did weigh in but I fell over. So when I get back to the weight I posted last I will keep logging in the weight. But for now, I will not post 😆

One thing that helps me is if an unable to weigh in or am just fluctuating, I just keep logging my last lowest weight. This keeps me motivated to lower it. I have had two times that I had to put an increase due to overeating. Just a reminder that the scale is only one small gauge for weight loss. You’ve got this!!
