CrystalJo74's Journal, 28 January 2022

It's Flex Friday! I'm not a "bodybuilder"...but I AM trying to build a better body for myself to continue this journey here on earth. Even if you don't go to a gym or have much fitness equipment at home, I found excellent sites on YouTube that offer BEGINNER/SENIOR exercises with both strength & cardio. My fave right now (besides Letty's Zoom Zumba classes💃) is a mother/daughter team from the Las Vegas area. The mom is 81 and the daughter is in her 50's(?). They have made a ton of different videos that are anywhere from 5 to 50 minutes long. I mix & match!

Even if you can just bring yourself to stand up at commercial time and walk slowly in place or around your house for just those few minutes...it's a start! I never dreamed I'd be able to exercise again after my psoriatic arthritis flared for over a year! Fear of pain kept me from even considering it. First step was wearing the FitBit & increasing my daily steps. That's ALL I could do!! So, please, don't let the fear keep you from exploring what your body can actually do...no matter how uncoordinated, stiff, awkward you may feel.

Anyone care to share just one thing extra you can do (or did) today to move your body? Blessings & success to you all!!💙

I started with walking and low impact cardio due to Systemic Lupus and how it affected my joints...worked my way up. Now I'm running 3.5miles 4-5days a week training for a 5K, with moderate weight lifting.

@Ocean_girl...Thanks for stopping by! I don't push myself past the point of PAIN, just to the usual point of soreness that I imagine everyone experiences 😂 I was scared to start...but now I'm scared to stop!😲💪

25 minute walk every day, Zumba class Sat / Sun (Sunday's are toning days) I park far away from my work so I am about 5 mins walk to my office. My cardiologist is happy so I am happy. :) I will be 67 in April.

Crystaljo I try to get at least 10,000 steps per day every little bit helps, walking, cleaning, moving your body to every commercial break if you're watching TV. I lift in each hand a gallon glass bottle filled with water to strengthen my arms.

@Little Red Fox...YAYYY! Another inspiring story from a 'senior' like myself🙋‍♀️ I'll be 66 in a few weeks, and my Drs are very pleased about the changes I've made and the weight I've lost. I'm impressed that you're still working and able to keep so active! WAY TO GO 👍💪💃👏

No wonder you're making such good progress towards your goals 👏👏💪👍 That's the beauty of our journeys here on FS. Everyone's at a different level, with different priorities & goals...but we all care about each other and offer support & encouragement. @liv001...Saturday could be 'Self-Care' or 'Squats' or 'Sit Ups' or how bout 'Stretch'? This is my 'rest' day for the week, so I'm gonna go with Self-Care & Stretching. Maybe you have more ideas? I'd love to hear them 💙
