Not trying to be negative, but it is something that has to be considered in Louisiana (especially south Louisiana) and in all of Florida. A dog trainer in CenLa would not take his dogs to South Louisiana to hunt. You can even have gators in brackish waters and on the beach. My puppy-girls want to swim so much.

And here, people new to North Florida have told me that realtors told them it was too cold for gators. A complete lie.

Bottom Up, I grew up in this part of Louisiana, and yes, or course there are alligators in the lakes and bayou and we don't let our dogs swim there. But I used to water ski in those bayous and lakes and I've never known anyone to have been attacked by an alligator or bitten by a water moccasin or any other such thing. Most wild creatures just want to be left alone, and if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. But I appreciate your concern.
