After losing 6 lbs in the first week, I'm now holding steady at 194 apparently, having weighed myself this morning. Holding steady is what I'm used to, so I'm not all that concerned.

Prior to beginning the Atkins Diet (I hate that D word.), I'd pretty much held steady at a weight of 200 lbs. It's what I weighed all of last decade. And it was my starting weight just nine short days ago. At 194, I'm the lightest I've been since the new millineum began. LOL

How I maintained that weight though is quite frankly a mystery to me, because I never counted calories or carbs or really paid any attention to nutritional values in the foods I ate. A typical day consisted of:

Quote:
Breakfast
1. Sausage Egg & Cheese McGriddle at McDonalds or the Sausage Egg & Cheese Croissanwich at BK
2. Large Sweet Tea or a Large Coke

Lunch (if I had one; although I didn't skip it all that often)
1. Bacon Cheese Whopper at BK or the Big Bacon Classic at Wendy's
2. Large Fries
3. Large Coke

Dinner
1. Two Chilli Cheese Dogs or a dish of pasta, usually Alfredo Noodles
2. 1 or 2 glasses V8 Fusion

Snack
1. Tostito Chips with Nacho Cheese Dip

I just figured out what the calorie count is for my "Usual Daily Meals". Uhm... Over 4000 calories per day. I also figured out what the carbs were, and that came out to a staggering 430 NET carbs.

Like I said...I don't know how I maintained 200 lbs. Now that I am paying attention to carbs...and eating only 20 per day...I'm left with more questions than answers as to why I didn't continue gaining weight with as much junk food as I've consumed in the past 10 years.

But I'm hoping that whatever was in me that helps me hold steady at 200 will still be there when I reach my target weight so it can help me hold steady then.

Wow, very interesting insights to say the least! Shame on you for using the D word! hehe, we use WOE or WOL for way of eating and life. Eating icecream all day, or pizza as well as low carb or low fat which are all types of "diets", funny it sounds so bad eh? ~tig

LOL, yeah...eating icecream all day sounds chillingly good. hehe. Seriously, I'm trying not to think of myself on a "D***", but rather more of a "Fast Food Boycott". ;) The ultimate change for me was just the shocking realization of what I'd consumed on a daily basis.
