When one is dieting, I've learned one really needs a TRUSTY scale...unlike mine!

I weighed this morning, first thing when I got up earlier than unusual...and then re-weighed about two hours later after my typical morning routine (but still before breakfast). Somehow in that two hours, without having eaten a thing, no drinks either, and while wearing the exact same underwear, I gained FOUR POUNDS!

Not possible! So I moved the scale two feet over in the room, reset, and stepped on it again. Yet another different reading, this time 1 lb down, but still 3 lbs over the original reading.

Let hubby try. He got a couple of different readings, too. So we tested the scale using free weights of "known amounts". We either got NO reading, or some off the wall amount.

GRRR! How am I supposed to know the accuracy of my weight loss plan when the scale that's supposed to help me keep track decides to have a "split personality" all of a sudden?

This is what I use. I always step on my scale with some weights to force it to read higher and then step back on. This scale tends to track the industrial scale at work. http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Bathroom-Technology/dp/B001KXZ808/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1360695014&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=bathroom+scale

The number one type of food which will make you retain water is carbohydrates. It is especially bad to consume a large amount of carbs 1-2 days before a weigh in. Glycogen Retention. Watch your late night carb intake . If you sit around after eating carbs at night. It will not burn off at night unless you exercise it off.

Might check your batteries. Or better yet just go ahead and replace them. I was getting quirky readings and simply reset the scales by popping out the battery and putting it back in. I'm going to watch it and replace them if it acts up again.
