jenjabba's Journal, 27 April 2019

I just went to a meetup for my job here in Georgia. Almost EVERY LADY WAS OBESE. GEORGIA is FAT FAT FAT STATE. I'M NOT going to be one of them. Sticking with my plan. I will get there. Keto on.

Good for you. Seeing it always make me say I don't want to be like that a d I get back on track. One place I go to keep me on track is Walmart. I can see the ones I want to be like to get me on track as well as what I don't want to look like. It is a good lesson for keeping on track.

I am obese...fat fat fat. I live in Texas. I am putting my heart and soul into my weight loss and have worked very hard to lose 25 lbs and will continue on my journey. However, to meet me casually you would not know I am actively trying to lose weight. To the casual observer, I am still just FAT FAT FAT. It sucks that there is fat shaming on a forum like this. I truly hope those that are only moderately overweight never have to feel the shame, desperation and physical pain that goes along with morbid obesity. Btw, I understand looking at someone bigger than you and using that as motivation. Maybe I am just overly sensitive today. Please don't take offense...I am not intending to scold but just to inform from another perspective.

@Shiny - I agree. It's one thing to make an observation about the generalities of a region - another altogether to reject knowing someone based merely on their size. I'm not overly sensitive. That's just judgmental bigotry. There could have been ladies in that room just like you and me, trying and making progress, and being judged because no one asked their story. We all have a story.

I am not fat shaming anyone. Get over it. I am obese as well. I have lost weight but for my height I am very obese. Georgia is fat fat fat, I am fat. I am not fat shaming anyone. I am stating a fact. I spoke too many women there, sorry I didn't include my entire conversation with you oh, but you are now judging me.

I apologize. You're probably right. When I read your comment 'I was hoping to connect but nope nope nope' I did judge. I did not take into account you'd had conversations. Then again, I don't discuss my agenda here in real life either and because I too eat keto like you so my plate may look weird for a person trying to lose weight. It's subtle to notice that I may have scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon but skipped the toast. But again, you may have been unable to connect due to other things not shared here. I apologize.

I think I do notice people and their sizes more now that I am super dieting than I do normally. It is just something that is on my mind.

Not to mention it was a dang pizza buffet, so yes, food conversation came up lol

Fullabella, it was shiny50 that accused me of fatshaming. Not you, i didn't reject anyone because they were fat. One persons post got you going. It's ok, you are always cool.

Didn't mean to offend. I have been extraordinarily stressed and on edge lately. I take offense at most everything nowadays and lashing out on social media is out of character for me.. Jenjabba I do apologize.

Keto on! I think the south (I’m a southern girl with southern family) has got a big problem with sugar. Sweet tea and starchy butter filled side dishes are dietary staples. Last summer in NC I kept seeing billboards(!!!) about free diabetes testing and prevention and supplies! Apparently it’s an “epidemic” 🙁

I think northerners eat healthier because they just don't know how to cook lol. Kidding. Then again..I had chili in Jersey nearly 20 years ago and it still gives me nightmares.

Wow - Texas is #11? Dang. I wonder if I relocated to Colorado if I'd bring up their state average?

Where does the data come from? What if the other 10 states just have better health insurance for folks to go to the doctor to get this recorded? And as for Colorado I thought smoking gave you the munchies. Maybe these folks are just home, chillin' with Netflix and not getting the office visits in.

I think the ranking is based on a telephone survey and data collected by state health departments...
