Day 1 of a planned 1 days of ‘water fasting’ Blood sugar 111 mg/dL
My results on my ‘mini challenges’ yesterday:
🏃🏾 Run 7 miles - 👍🏾
🏋🏾 Lift weights - 👍🏾 (I lifted my ‘maximum’. This was surprising because I have lifted weights three days in a row. However, I was sooo pumped up with carbs from eating ‘truffles’ the night before, I had maximum glycogen to lift with… then the three days of lifting took its toll and my muscles gave out and I had to stop. However, I did get my deadlifts up to 230lbs!)
So, the good news was that I was able to lift my maximum for three days. This means that this was a good ‘mini-bulking’.
The bad news is that my fasting blood sugar level is now up to 111!! (my normal level is 80-90)
This-is-not good.
As Dr. Jason Fung covers ("The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss" - https://amzn.to/2sAbluO), for insulin resistant people, it’s the “Insulin” that is causing my body to pack on the fat.
For example, I only took in 1100 calories yesterday, ran 7 miles, and did the maximum workout in the gym. I definitely had a calorie deficit yesterday, yet I gained 2 pounds?
However, I did 140 carbs (it was 'planned' because I was 'taking the weekend off' on my diet)
This is why I track my *own* numbers and look at my *own* data. It is clear, when I consume more than 100 carbs a day I get fat.
Today I will take it easy and drink only green tea until tonight when I will have a protein shake. This hopefully will bring down my blood sugar levels.
😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

If I do the same thing, I lose weight. Definitely based on individual data!!
Good Luck with hitting the right mix of food.

@srossca - It would be interesting to know what your fasting blood sugar is. I suspect it would be much lower that what I am recording.

I’ll have to check the blood sugar level. I don’t believe I had it measured in the past.

Enjoy your fasting day! 😀
I am fasting tomorrow, "DF' because last week my intent of water fasting was a failure 😐.

@Keilin_4 - Thanks, but, my 'water fast' was a failure. Had a stressful day so I had a protein shake. Still did the 'no solid food fast', but, not the 'water fast'

Water fluctuations. Why are scale fluctuations causing you to believe you're adding fat? 7k excess calories are needed to add 2 pounds of fat.

hey, glad you got 7 mi run. my knee will never do that again 😦 so, ya, I gained on low calories too and I don't break keto. mehh. I don't know if it's all insulin resistance. my blood sugar now that I'm on thyroid is now between 70 and 95! 👍 nothing makes sense anymore lol (except keto and not eating , fasting) tomorrow less stress for you.

88 mg/dl fasted about 9 hrs. That's lower than when I was fasting low carb. Interesting..
