Eating too many calories, more than what your body is burning. But that happens over time. A kg or two in a day is usually water retention, or inflammation from over exercising.

Sugar is a carbohydrate but raises your insulin higher when there is no fibre to help slow down the spike… just count calories. No need to complicate things. And just eat what you think is healthy. Obviously too much sugar isn’t healthy. Moderation is best.

also. fluctuations are totally normal... hormones, stress, bad sleep, certain foods that your body may be sensitive to (like I can eat literally one slice of white bread and will defo be up 1.5kg the following day - tried and tested.) so also useful to use your food diary as a way to observe what foods your body responds to in an inflammatory way. some people it may be cheese, or wine, or like me... white bread. you can then consciously learn to uncouple from the foods that don't serve your goals.

all comes down to what you put in you need to burn..... everything extra has to burn.... and bad carbs get turned into sugar and stored.... just me knowing this got me where i am... i eat mostly what i want.... but with my products and sticking to above. threw away whopping 35kgs already.
