Just found this book at Borders called "The Low-Carb Bible' from Publications International Ltd. It's a big hard-back (320 pages) with lots of reviews of different low-carb diets, how to build your low-carb plan and low-carb recipes. It looks like a good book. The best part is it has a price on it of $29.95, but it was in the Borders Bargain Book section for $3.99. Couldn't pass it up for that price!

So far so good as I browse through the book. I really like it! From my progress with Atkins so far, I did really well in the first 4-5 weeks, and then I hit a plateau of 172 for 3 weeks. So, for the past 5 days I've been doing the Atkins Fat Fast to break the plateau, and I've lost 7 lbs in the 5 days. You are only supposed to do the fast for 5 days, so tomorrow I go back to regular induction. I'm looking forward to induction compared to the atkins fat fast. But the fat fast does do a good job of breaking a plateau! (I'll be curious to see if I gain any of the 7 lbs back when I go back to induction.......)

I found out about while searching on the web for Atkins articles and what people do if they are stuck on plateaus. If you do a search on Google for "Atkins Fat Fast", it will show a few different web sites. The one I found most helpful was www.low-carb.com/atarfatfa.html. But, you might want to check out all the ones listed on Google, since they'll give you insight into how it works and what folks have done. I'm going back to induction today, but I have to tell you, the Fat Fast was hard. Some of the negatives...I did not feel as good as I do on Induction and I didn't feel like I had much energy. I usually exercise alot, but I didn't do more than walk for 15-30 mins a day because I just was more lathargic. The positives: I lost 8 lbs in 5 days and hopefully broke the plateau. You are not supposed to do it more than 5 days, and I CAN TOTALLY SEE WHY! 5 days was enough for me. You may have a different experience and feel more energy, so keep me posted if you do it so we can exchange notes!
