Herbie's Journal, 22 August 2008

Had some pretty good days lately and I seem to have lost those two pounds that I gained from too much high living. :) Thanks, all, for your supportive comments on my last journal. I've found that I really enjoy swimming, which I've had a chance to do a lot this summer. It's still hot here (in the 90s today), so hopefully I have a bit more time with the outdoor pool.

I send my older daughter off to first grade next week. I can't believe how big she is sometimes. Two days ago she figured out how to ride her bike without training wheels and she is so proud! It's awesome to see. She is my inspiration for this healthy lifestyle: she's so eager to learn things, energetic, brave, kind, happy... there is a lot that can be learned from her, and a lot of stuff I want to be able to do so I can keep up with her!
130.0 lb Lost so far: 40.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 3.5 lb a week

glad to see you are keeping the weight under control!! what a great job you have done, only 5 lbs to goal! Gosh, your first grader is riding a bike without trainign wheels!! Imluuvd' sister is 25 and she is just now learning how to ride a bike... we are all laughing about her hubby running beside her holding on to the bike while she peddles and wobbles...at 25 yrs old! Maybe your daughter could give her some pointers!

Good job getting those 2 lbs off. You've done fantastic in maintenance. I hope I can do so well. I'm like you, reset my goal to 5 lbs lighter. Maybe that can keep us slimmer and trimmer if we keep our goal a little lighter than our "comfort" weight. No crying next week now, you hear! ;)

Herbie -- you are still one of my inspirations here on FS -- you have done so well and continue to maintain your healthy lifestyle. Kids are a powerful incentive - I am trying to set a good example for my daughter - she is nearly 21 and in college and well we all know what a struggle it can be to eat healthy and work out while in college. Have a great weekend and good luck on that first day of kindergarten - I can still remember it like it was yesterday......
