amanda123's Journal, 29 June 2010

I think my plateau is over.... knock on wood.... I drank plenty of water yesterday and was running to the bathroom every 20 min. This past weekend I spent alot of time outside and working so I think maybe I sweated alot of it out which is why I didnt have to use the bathroom often. I'm having a good hair day! HA! How often do I say that? With all this humidity my hair has been looking like poo but I bought some of that expensive Frizz Ease shampoo & some Aussie 3 Min Miracle conditioner and my hair looks decent today. YAY! OK my favorite jeans are getting too big. When I went to the casino last night I had to keep pulling them up over & over. They aren't too bad when I first put them on but then they stretch out & they are falling off. My birthday is next week so I'm going shopping! I may find out something about my job today. They are interviewing for the new financial analyst so I am just going to go ask how this will affect my job.

Oh one more thing.... I had a yummy snack yesterday and today for my breakfast. I'm not getting in enough fiber so I had a slice of double fiber bread toasted with peanut butter. Do you think this will hurt my weight loss? There are 8 net carbs.

Amanda, you crack me up. You were not in a plateau just because you didn't lose for a day. Be patient, it always works its way out. I love the fact that you are having a good hair day. I have the same problems - high humidity and curly hair. Good luck on finding out about your job, I've got my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how it goes.

You posted your comment before I sent mine. Yes, it can hurt your weight loss. The bread and peanut butter are not allowed on induction. You can add PB later on in the nut rung of OWL but it shouldn't be yet. If you are getting frustrated w/ the choices available on induction, maybe you are ready to move up. Have you tried the MIMs yet? Maybe make one and toast it for your PB once you are in OWL.

Oh but Keli I was in a plateau. I didn't lose for 7 days. I just bounced around within a pound for 7 days. I have moved onto OWL. I tried a MIM... I don't like them but maybe I need to try another one. I don't think I had enough splenda in it & it was kindof slimy to me. I probably won't have the bread every day but it was sure good. Oh and the newer Atkins book does say you can have one slice of low carb bread per day or one low carb tortilla per day. I am just wondering if anyone is doing this and still losing? I think I will still lose but maybe slower?

Just look at your weight loss history. Sometimes our bodies need time to adjust to significant weight loss, like you've had. 7 days is nothing. Your doing good. Just be careful and watch the low carb bread substitutes and how your body reacts to it.

Amanda, I buy these low carb tortilla's that have 5 g total carbs and 15 g fiber. They are by Ole and called High fiber Nutrition or something like that. Even my hubby likes them. You might want to see if any of your stores carry them. I buy them at Kroger.

ALee1968... my stores. This is so sad. We have a Wal-Mart and a Save-A-Lot. It is so hard to find low carb products in my town. Our Wal-Mart is tiny, no bakery in it & no automotive center etc - it's small. The Save-A-Lot carries Mission carb-balance tortilla shells which I buy several packages of when they get them in because it's not very often. There is a Kroger about 45 miles from me and I have to go take a test tomorrow evening so I will go look for some there. I wish we could give our bodies a pep talk lol! "OK BODY!!!! You have rested long enough! Now get with the program and start burning that fat!" LOL!

Amanda, you might check with BeachGal. She posted a link yesterday about a lowcarb website where you can order these things.

Technically a plateau is 4 weeks no loss of weight or inches; sounds like your body was just playing catch up :) great job on your success so far!

Really! OMG I had no idea a true plateau was that long! Thanks - that makes me feel better. So not a plateau just a rest period. I need to start thinking of it that way instead of jumping on the scales every morning and getting all frustrated with myself.

Give the MIM's another try. They are a little slimly immediatly once you take them out of the container. When I take them out, I invert them onto a paper towel and let them cool. Once they are cool, they will be dry to the touch.

I agree with you Amanda, I have a hard time getting them down most of the time. You can make the one w/o splenda, slice it and toast it. It's not that bad if you spread egg salad on it. But for the most part, I gag the entire time.

I have no problem with the MIM's, I actually use Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup in mine instead of splenda. I also have to cook mine for 1:30 instead of just a minute. Then I spread butter or whipped cream cheese on it.

Not meaning to hi-jack this journal, but can you post the recipe for yours ALee?

Oh mine was dry to the touch but slimy in my mouth when I ate it... again I have a thing about the textures of my foods. That was also the problem I had with my meatloaf when I made it with flax meal... made it feel kindof slimy.

Sounds like you're learning about your own body and what works for you Amanda! Great Job!! About the MIMs, try golden flax meal (mine is Bobs Red Mill) instead of the brown. The texture and flavor is much better!

oh wow! Thanks Tinkers! I may have to order it though. All our store carries is the Hodgkins Mill brand or something like that. I like it but the golden sounds much better.

Amanda, you are cracking me up! You are doing so awesome and even your hair is falling into line!! When you go to Kroger tomorrow, pick yourself up som carbmaster low carb yogurt. It is 4 grams of carbs total, for a nice sized serving, and it satisfies the fruit and sweet craving. I have one several times a week. And they have peach, strawberry, strawberry banana, cherry, blackberry, raspberry, adn vanilla. MMMMM GOOD! And guilt free!!

You're more than welcome!! I liked MIMs before. I love them now!
