Amarok's Journal, 01 April 2008

They were talking on the radio this morning about how sleep was important for keeping the weight off/losing weight. I'm not expecting much for the next few days. I had a I need treats attack and headed to the grocery store intent on getting something to keep me going through the next couple days. It turned out that I didn't do as much damage as I intended. I bought some on-sale chocolate called "eggsplosions" which has this cracking candy embedded in it resulting in an unpleasent sensation when you eat them - so I had 2 and decided to give the rest away. Everything else, while being processed and not highly nutritious, was not evil in serving size quantities. I found some arrowroot cookies that you can eat 2 for 1 point and low fat frozen yougurt, and a bunch of stuff that I'd actually need time to cook if I was going to eat it. But I found some banana muffin mix that small muffins would only be 2 points (1/4 cup of batter) I think I'm going to make them up with cranberries and then freeze a bunch to take for lunches. I also bought a box of fiber one bars. They taste okay and are only 2 points, but they aren't so good that I'm going to eat the whole box in a day. So it was kind of weird. After going to the trouble of going to the store to feed some emotional need for unhealthy food, I ate 2 chocolate eggs. Of course the week isn't over yet, and now I do have a bunch of snacks around - but it appears that WW has trained me well to read labels and at least make better bad decisions.

Better bad decisions. I think that is a good thing. Cant do it all in one day. It is hard work and will come eventually. Just keep at it. You are only (and I say only because I have 75) more pounds to go to get to your goal. That is phenonminal.

I like how you put that, "better bad decision". I did the same thing: having gone to the store with my husband on the weekend, with me being the only one wanting to lose weight, he picked out the families treats and I chose my 'legal' ones. I was so hungry for something sweet last night that the newly purchased apples actually called to me while everyone else ate apple pie. For me, that was a victory, even though I had had all of the fruit I was supposed to have for the day. Choices are what it's all about. Keep up your good work. -Linda

Great job on the treats attack; 2 chocolate eggs....I would say that was a success. Like you said It could have been worse. Maybe the crazy crackeling sensation could be used to help not eat other things..too funny:) You have set yourself up with a lot of those 1 and 2 point snacks to make for a great week. Continued success on your thesis!!!
