I have managed to stay off the scales and I realized that it is only a few more days until I weigh (the day after tomorrow). I feel less crazy now that I am not on the scales every day.
Today's task from the Beck Diet Solution was to pick a diet coach which I did a couple of days ago/ Fortunately the person I asked was willing to do it. You are supposed to ask someone who is positive and a good problem solver who can help you stay motivated. It doesn't have to be someone who has been a dieter but you can choose someone from your online support system, a friend or family member if you like. You should meet/talk/email this person at least once a week and whenever you weigh or have challenges staying on your food or exercise plan. You should give your diet coach a copy of your list of advantages for losing weight and always be honest w/them. Pick a diet coach before you are having problems if possible. Your diet coach should be made familiar with your food plan and you can ask them to review your menus and journal entries if you like.
I am also continuing all the previous weight loss tasks and paying special attention to eating slowly and mindfully which I have yet to master. I set a timer today and timed my meal to help me eat more slowly and mindfully. I am finding I swallow my food without chewing much a lot of the time. I will practice eating slowly and paying attention over and over until I master it because I know it is a key to permanent weight loss. Giving myself credit for all my new behaviors really feels good, too. Today I got my 30 minute walk in. I tried to take a look at my workout DVD's on my computer but I messed up the drive somehow. I am thinking of changing to net carbs again because I am concerned my blood sugar will drop too low when I begin to workout next week. I'll wait and see...

If you have active diabetes, you might ask your doctor about an appointment with a nutritionist. Your insurance may well cover it, and nutritionists are experts in helping diabetics in finding the best way to eat, get active, and make those changes permanent. You can take your diet in, get guidance, get help knowing how to watch what you should be eating to offset the impact of your physical activity, and so on. Or, just ask your doctor if he or she can advise you on these things... it might be cheaper. The point is, there are medical professionals whose entire job is to take you by the hand and walk you through this process. Their job is to help you get healthy, stay healthy, and reach your goals. If you can, take advantage of them.
