Up at 3:45 this morning. Hit the treadmill for a 3.0 mile run with a 10 minute warmup and cooldown. Went the whole weekend (long weekend) without a workout. Got a lot done around the homestead on Friday, and then things went south from there. DW was vomiting and freezing to death all day Saturday so, after I called the cancer center and talked to the doctor on call, I took her into the Emergency Room Saturday afternoon. They put her on an IV, morphine and antibiotics and admitted her to the hospital. Needless to say, our Easter weekend did not go as planned. Sunday morning she was doing much better, and I shot over to the church for Easter services, went home and took care of the animals, and brought her the egg drop soup she was craving. Most are satisfied with chicken noodle. Not her. She was born the wrong nationality. She would eat oriental every day of the week if I would tolerate it. I'm a steak and potatoes guy, so we are not making that our daily staple. I took her a bunch (literally) of bananas - her other staple, since she doesn't do hospital food very well, which is funny, because I gain weight with a hospital stay. I guess I'm just not that picky.
The kids and grandkids popped in and out of the hospital room, so we just settled for our Easter family gathering there. We walked up and down the halls a couple of times, and she was doing fine when I left last night about 8:00. She ought to be released today. They took blood cultures on Saturday, but I don't expect the results of those until she is back home. I suspect that, even though she tolerated the chemo very well all week, it made her immune system vulnerable and she picked up some kind of infection or virus. They said her white blood count was real high, so she was fighting off something. Well, I just have to see what the doctor says when he comes in this morning. I had to go to work, so I will find out what is going on after she tells all the rest of her friends and family. :). Tune in tomorrow for the next episode in this exciting saga. :D
Well, just found out that they are releasing her from our hometown hospital, and expecting her to make the appointment with the oncologist in the nearby city (45 minutes away) this afternoon. Family doctor recommends that she keep the appointment. So daughter is taking her home first, and then over to see the oncologist. Turns out she is not feeling very well again today. I don't think this is going to be one of those "happy" days.
