ugh to be in the green again hopefully soon. this whole sugar detox thing is killer. slipped up today, was perfect until after dinner. try this again tomm. had a great week last week of dropping caffeine, and keeping sugars as natural as possible, except today, and below 30g.

I know this has been asked a million times, but anyone have real life experience of getting to goal weight without exercise? Like keeping sugars/carbs at a target level (not getting rid of) and intake 200ish below rdi?

I hear ya. I'm having trouble with my sugar intake as well, and I'm in the process of cutting out caffeine-so you can't really do both at the same time-so if you are, relax. You have to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. So even if you ARE NOT exercising, if you ARE in a deficit, you WILL lose. If you do exercise but eat a bunch of high calorie foods and go over, you still won't lose, so it works both ways!

Yea I dropped soda/energy drinks 2 weeks ago? Maybe 3 I can't remember, just drink tea and water, I love it, and don't miss that garbage. But yea, no way could I do both at once, this sugar thing is harder than I thought, 3 day detox was the goal, but still I did 4 days, slipped up and had apple crisp, made anot her 3 days. Had mms and tootsie roll tonight. I'm not so sure on the 3 day detox. Sugar is everywhere and in almost everything. Try this again tomm, and shoot for the moon.

not me - I can't even think about moderating the amount of sugar and other junk i eat if i don't exercise and achieve a sense of well-being first

I dropped close to 250 pounds without exercising. How did I do it? Low carb and calorie restriction. Zero added sugars for over a year, limiting my net carbs to >20g/day, and >1000kcals for the last six months. Intermittent fasting, started in November of last year doing 18:6, moved to 23:1 by February, and started adding in 24 and 48 hour fasts. Hit my goal in less than a year, have been maintaining since the end of July. Giving up sugar was hard at first, but worth it in the long run, after detoxing from sugar the sugar highs and lows and accompanying hunger and mood swings went with it.

Gs I wish you the best luck today with keeping away from sugar! I'm going to try too, doing ok so far! Did you know even fruit has an enormous amount of sugar and it gives me craving, I found that out today! I ate two small plums and then like, 10 minutes later I wanted M&M's soooooo badly!

I did much the same as Phil, only not to the amazing level he did (250lbs is mind blowing, lol! You're a beast Phil!) I went from 162.5 down to 123.5 with a nearly identical diet except my calorie intake is regularly around 700-1100 daily, and that's just with normal "eat when Im hungry, stop when I'm full" not counting calories, only logging WHAT I eat. (No intermittent fasting for me). I also LITERALLY just finished detoxing from sugar. ALL sugar. But here's a word of warning if you HONESTLY want to detox from sugar: you can not even have fruit until the detox is over. And if you cheat, AT ALL, one single bite, you're right back at square one. Just like a heroin addict or an alcoholic. That's EXACTLY what sugar addiction is, and what it means to go about breaking it. It means no more. Not a sip. Not a hit. Now, I'm not going to lie to you... The first 11 days were PURE HELL, flu-like symptoms, headaches constantly, fatigue... But OMFG, once I woke up on the 12th day, it was literally, indescribably AMAZING. NO fogginess, no grogginess, NO cravings, not a single yawn throughout the day. It's like I've been reborn... I wish you all the best! And have faith, it CAN BE DONE! We are living proof... All the love and support! :)

You're definitely an inspiration Phil, and we are very lucky to have you here! <hugs>. Oh, and Gswizzle, I forgot to mention above: once the detox is over, it's ok to reintroduce natural sugars into your diet, of course. Fruits, honey, "sweet" veggies like carrots, milk, etc. Again, best of luck to you! It's not easy, but then again, nothing REALLY worth doing in life is ever easy, is it? :)

My sugar detox takes me 19 days. Some say 3 weeks. Phil and Debra are my heros. Two who worked their program at heir own pace.
