Merry Christmas all!! I hear that the word "merry" as it was originally used meant "peaceful" instead of "happy." I like that ... a Peaceful Christmas. We had tamales, beans and rice last night ... delicious!! Then watched A Christmas Carol, the rendition with George C. Scott playing Ebeneezer Scrooge. I love that story. After that we opened gifts ... much fun!!! Everyone had a lovely time!!

This morning I made French Toast with Cinnamon Swirl bread and bacon. French Toast is one of my son's all time favorite breakfasts. Dinner was around 2 this afternoon ... it turned out great!! The cake also turned out great!! I just had another slice a few minutes ago!!! I took a couple of pictures and I'll upload them later this weekend. I've definitely had more to eat than I would typically but then again ... it IS a special occasion and I will trim off the extra calories in a few days time!!

I hope everyone is well. I wouldn't be on here except I got a mini netbook for Christmas and wanted to check it out!!! Something a little smaller to take with me when I travel. I love it!!

Five things I am grateful for today ...

1. My patchwork cake was a success!! LOL!!
2. Our son actually liked a jacket and shirt I picked out for him (he is super picky about his clothing ... insisted he didn't like striped shirts at about age 2 and refused to wear them ... I had to take a 2 year old clothes shopping to pick out his own shirts!!! LOL!!!
3. the faces of my loved ones as they enjoyed our Christmas dinner
4. my husband gazing at me across the room as we listened to Sara Evans singing "I could not ask for more" ...
5. two more days at home and another short work week to look forward to next week!!

Take care my friends ... I'll look forward to reading your holiday adventures as you have the time and opportunity to post!!

Have a very Merry Peaceful Joyful christmas in your home with your loved ones. May the firewood chop and stack itself and may the stove burn slowly.

Best to make a mental approximation of the calories moose. Not that in my case it helped hold me back at all. :-)

Forgot to ask! Is a patchwork cake like a checkerboard cake? I use to make those all the time!
