So, I've been diagnosed with migraines. I feel like it's a little vague, but now I can say it's officially a migraine and not just a headache/stomachache/I hate my life thing. I was also told I have super low vitamin D, so I'll have to start supplementing that as well (on top of my daily vitamin). Anyone have any experience with migraines? I'd be curious to hear how certain foods may make them worse or better? Thank you!

I take Vitamin D to ensure that the calcium that I take is absorbed.

I do and they suck. I've never found a strong correlation to any particular foods, but do tend to have more when I am adjusting to low carb, I'm guessing because of the hormonal changes. I hope you find a way to manage them. :)

I've been diagnosed with the VISUAL symptoms of migraines: flashes, zigzags, shimmering colored lights surrounding a blind spot. But none of the pain. Triggers for mine is taking a shower after some long hard racquetball games, or other extended strenuous physical activity. But its random, rarely happens and much more rarely since I don't play racquetball. Mine last about 30 to 60 minutes. I've never tried to stop them from happening. But I have learned how to turn off pain. Severe kidney stone attacks toned down from level 10 of 10 intensity to 3 of 10. Banged my ankle really bad once and turned down from an overwhelming intensity to just a small sensation at my ankle. I use this every day. Amazing how often it's needed. :) Now, since I never had the painful part of migraine, I have no certain idea that I could turn down THAT pain. But I do believe that it can be done. Especially since one of the ways to treat it naturally is meditation. In any event, my heart goes out to anyone who has to experience that kind of pain.

My biggest migraine trigger is dehydration.

Had them for years, with all the pain, auras and nausea that goes with the "regular" ones. The only thing I found that triggered mine was red wine (apparently chocolate is a trigger for some, but fortunately that didn't bother me.) But in most cases, the trigger seemed to be stress rather than anything I ate or drank. There are drugs to help now that were not available when I had them. I did get over having them at the age of about 42 -- one of the few good things about getting older!! (LOL) I read that some studies showed they frequently diminished/stopped at about 42, so it was not something isolated to me, gives you something to look forward to!! I wish you success in something to alleviate them as I know they can really know you out.
