Wow ... it is almost 3 in the afternoon and I've yet to be here!!!

We've been busy in the garage. A neighbor of ours came into a pile of vinyl siding (at least I think it is vinyl). He already sided his own home and has a huge pile of it left. Enough to side our rustic mountain home. He offered us a GREAT deal on it ... willing to accept payments with no interest, needing to get it in a covered place so the snow doesn't pile up on it and break it to pieces. My hubby has wanted to side our home ... but we've never been able to afford it. Well, this deal was too good to pass up. So ... we had to make room in one of our garages to store it.

Our garages are a MESS. No room for cars ... which is not a good thing coming into winter. How is that garages end up being storage places for random junk instead of automobiles?? Now I have a gargantuan pile to take to the dump!! I even cleared off hubby's work bench and you can actually see portions of it!! Hubby and neighbor have been making trips in the neighbor's pick-up, hauling the siding up the hill to our place and I've been helping to unload and pile it high.

Come Spring, we'll employ our neighbor to put the siding on the house. Hubby is very excited about the prospect. I am believing the money to pay for it will come ... we'll start making more money and it won't be an issue.

Hubby is hurting. He tires out quickly ... strength and stamina are much decreased. But he's a trooper. I keep telling him that instead of being upset that he tuckers out so easily to remember that when he pushes himself, he is actually re-building his strength. He is wishing we had a hot tub though, about now.

I am well into day two of PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN and doing well. I didn't track it all in my food diary .... but other than the oat bran (1.5 tbsps) recommended by Dukan, Dukkan, however you spell his name ... oh I think it is Dukan, anyway ... that is the only significant CARB I've had. I'm basically eating when I am hungry. Trying to stick to low-fat protein (other than my beloved eggs) and avoiding cheese. I'm pretty sure that is why I gained weight on Atkins. I am a cheesaholic and a nutaholic ... and I think I overdid it on both when I tried this before (years ago!!). I made myself a pancake out of my oat bran with an egg, 2 tablespoons of fat free Greek yogurt, a dash of Splenda and some cinnamon. It was quite tasty.

The scale was down this morning, but it is still much to high to record here. I am still committed to only recording losses ... so as long as it takes. So far it has been 37 days. No worries though, it is going to take whatever it is going to take for me to find my groove again. And find it I shall!!!

I didn't "exercise" today ... but I figure with all the sorting, unloading, and stacking I have been doing I'm still moving my body so I'm considering it a "rest" day from formal exercise.

What else? Goals and affirmations. I am kind to myself. I take care of myself. I sleep well. I eat high quality protein and am satisfied. My body effectively uses the fuel I feed it and I lose weight. I am a successful business woman and entrepreneur. My wood shed is full. I make $100,000 a year. I am financially responsible. I manage our finances well. Our dental needs are met. We have money saved for a vacation in Mexico in February 2012. I handle strong emotion and conflict calmly. Health and harmony reign throughout my mind and body. I believe in myself. I LIKE myself!! I LOVE my body!!! I am persistent, patient and DETERMINED!!!

I am also grateful.

Grateful for this great deal on siding that came our way.
Grateful for the patches of blue sky and bits of sunshine.
Grateful for a three-day weekend from my State job.
Grateful for the journey my hubby and I are on together.
Grateful my husband is alive ... 2 years ago he wasn't given much hope of recovery from the cancer ... so glad he is still with me!!!

Speaking of protein ... I am hungry!!! LOL!!! Time for a snack I think. Just realized I didn't take a darn thing out of the freezer for dinner. Shoot. I imagine there still might be enough time for something to thaw ... especially if I put it in cool water.

I hope you are each being kind to yourselves. And, for my fellow buddies who have been struggling in a similar fashion as I have ... may you each find your groove quickly!!! I don't know how I would have done this without you. I have wanted to just give in ... and go back to super fat land many times ... but I am so much more at peace, and happier with a healthier body and so I continue. Take care!!!

You will definitely have enough exercise today...what a wonderful blessing. I was hungry on the protein only woe also...not until i added some fillers back in that it stopped. Have a blessed day.

I love that on fs there are people who have gained, people who are losing, people who are maintaining and those even below their goal weight.... I enjoy the diversity- so many perspectives and clearly we all need each other.

Hi Carol, just caught up on your journals, don't know why I seemed to have been absent from your space for a couple of days. Welcome back to low carb, hope you find your grove there. Great job with resisting licking the lid to the chocolate sundae syrup, Carol. After about a week, you won't be so tempted. The pancake sounds good. And yes, the cheese and nuts can be a problem if we overindulge. It is awesome that you got siding for your home, and will be able to get it redone come spring, and it gave you a good reason to get to the garage! lol That is how it goes here also, I want to get a project done...it takes needing the space to get my butt moving! lol Have a great day, you beautiful, lovely, smart, 50 something woman!
