Today at 9pm I begin my 120 hour (5-day) fast to accelerate my body into ketosis. I will break-Fast at 9pm on Wednesday with a high-fat low-carb breakfast and begin my daily 24 hour intermittent fasting regimen.

1. The purpose of the 120hr fast is to accelerate the body into ketosis by making sure that the body has exhausted all sources of glycogen.

2. The purpose of a high-fat low-carb diet is to keep the body in ketosis by mimicking a diet that is similar to bodyfat.

3. The purpose of ketosis is to keep the body in a state of optimized fat oxidation mode 24 hours a day 7 days a week, put the body into protein and glycogen sparing mode so you won't lose muscle or glycogen reserves while exercising, and convert from burning glucose to burning ketones as a primary fuel source. Ketosis also slows metabolism, but in a good way, as a slower metabolism is the point of natural anti-aging. The keto diet is indeed an anti-aging diet.

4. 24hr intermittent fasting will also serve as the body's natural way of detoxification as the body uses time instead of food to detox.
