AuntieJan's Journal, 05 August 2011

Super tired... spent the last two days mudding and texturing a pantry for an elderly woman nearby... between applying, troweling, sanding and finishing with a skip trowel texture my shoulders and neck are really stiff and a bit sore.

No gym today, have to take one day as a rest day, back at it tomorrow morning. Glutton for punishment... yep I heard you say it, and yep you're probably right. I don't sit idle well... unless it's on a beach watching a killer sunset or something, or if Sven is giving me the full spa treatment including a massage. Uh-huh. But, I digress.

I am loving my new trainers with the purple laces (see Wednesday for pic), they actually improved my gait on the treadmill which is a plus. My time is improving too, up to 5.5 now and learning how to breathe from the diaphram only, not a huge deal because I have training on this type of breathing from chorus and choir in my earlier days. The timing is the hard part for me.

Well I am nodding off sitting here with the laptop on my lap (yes, I actually have one again!), and dropping her on the floor would not make either one of us happy. Time to put baby to sleep and Auntie to bed. Have to let Molly out first, I'll have one upset pooch if she doesn't get her evening cookie!

Peace out............

Glad you like your purple trainers :-). Fantastic that they have helped your gait.... Just goes to show how important it is, to get fitted for the right shoe, to suit your own running style. You said it glutton for punishment lol, still keeps your mind off food and gives you a workout. Re gym; does your body good to have a break, I know I can't exercise heavily and expect to do the same the next day - called getting older and needing more recovery time I think lol. Know what you mean about breathing, I find that bit really difficult when doing cardio or weights... Am trying o get the hang of it - can't hold my breath ( which is what i find myslf doing)for twenty minutes lol

Hi Skinny! I do indded relate to the increased recovery time, the schedule I am following for the 5k training indicates one day of the week for complete rest and one day for walking only or rest. It can't hurt my diet for sure, I just need to focus on the goal and limit my splurges... I know what my weak points are and I have to rise to that challenge. A year ago if anyone had told me I would be training for a race I would've laughed right in their face... whoda thunk it? Thanks for your coments and have a great weekend!

Auntie - You are still such a busy little butterfly - no wonder you are sore. Calories won't have a chance staying with you.
