Slight update to let you know that I'm bat-s*** crazy (but you already knew that).

I just registered for the Dallas White Rock Marathon on December 13th.

I have about 3 months to train to kick this distance's (26.2 miles) ass. Wish me luck.

I need to go watch "Run, Fat Boy, Run" again for inspirado.

OK, you've officially inspired me with the running. I've been debating with myself this morning on what it will take in order for massive progress to happen for me; then I saw your post. I ran my first half-marathon- I can't tell you how many years ago - and always promised myself I would complete a marathon. I came very close about 5 years ago, going 23 miles as an "unofficial" runner in the Sacramento Marathon. Then life got in my way and, well, you know how it goes. I just decided I'm gonna train for a marathon in December - even if I walk it, or hobble to the finish line - I'm gonna do it! Thanks for the inspiration and Best of Luck to you!

I love that movie!! Definitely inspiring. Hope you don't have a Hank Azaria type you gotta deal with in real life. I gotta find a CLOSE 5K so I can join the race club!

@doit2it: If you already have a running base then 3 months should be a good amount of time to prepare. Don't push it too hard though, remember to walk when you need to, and good luck!

Thanks "Divided". I was always pretty realistic regarding pace when I was a runner- WAY BACK WHEN. I never suffered shin splints or knee problems - a combination of good sense and sound body I suppose. I know 3 months will be a push, but I'll be careful and listen to my body on when to push forward and when to back off. I used to enjoy 10k's and one of the fun parts was watching all the rabbits race off at the starting gun, knowing I'd see them again about 3/4's thru the run. I checked out marathons and there's one in Santa Barbara in December. Does anyone know anything about it? i.e. difficulty, good/bad for a beginner, etc?

Great movie. Was skeptical when I heard it was directed by David Schwimmer but love Simon Pegg. Good luck with the training. If you search on the NY Times website, you can find a lot of good articles about marathon training.

He will forever be the Sean of the Dead guy. Go you with the marathon. I bet the cold weather will help some.
