LitLover's Journal, 20 July 2009

This weekend was my first test of will power, and I did really well. On Saturday, some friends invited us for dinner. I had two helpings, but made sure to take half of what I would have normally taken on my first go-through, so that when I went for the inevitable seconds, the servings wouldn't be so terrible. I knew what I was getting into, and made a vow not to feel guilty. I read recently - I good judge of whether or not you should eat whatever you're getting ready to eat is, if you will remember it two weeks from now, go ahead and eat it. The hostess's home made macaroni and cheese was that kind of memorable, and I don't regret it. Seriously. I didn't eat as huge a helping as I would have two weeks ago, and that's big for me.

On Sunday, I went to sushi with my parents, and followed a good guideline by ordering some miso soup before the meal. I made good choices of rolls that didn't leave me feeling deprived, but were still reasonable.

The big challenge for me this week is that I'm on vacation from work for a week and therefore the temptations abound. I did great today though - and had an incredible and healthy dinner of light potato salad (a surprisingly good healthy Paula Dean recipe) and turkey burgers. It was so good.

The scale was friendly to me this morning - despite the indulgences this weekend, I still lost a pound. I am so encouraged by this lifestyle change... all seems to be going so well right now.
226.0 lb Lost so far: 9.0 lb.    Still to go: 41.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
