I just made myself an "egg mcmuffin"... I made an Atkins MIM in a bowl (it came out shaped as an English muffin), split it in half, and added a fried egg and cheddar cheese... It was wonderful :)

For those of you that aren't familiar, MIM is a Muffin In A Minute... The original recipe calls for cinnamon and Splenda, which makes it sort of sweet, but you can alter it and do garlic, salt, Parmesan cheese, etc.... I think I may try to make cheesy garlic toast for dinner, at least I won't feel left out if I have something "bread like"!

It's pretty decent, Glen... If you're used to bread, though, it may take a little getting used to, but it's totally worth it! It only has 2 carbs, and is VERY filling, especially when you add the egg and cheese! Have you ever tried Atkins? Just curious, I know for me, cutting out carbs and sugar is the only way I can lose the weight, and feel healthy. I swear, before I was hypo I never felt the way I do now(tired, sluggish, brain fog, bloated, achey all over), but when I cut out all the junk from my diet, I feel like a new person! Odd thing is, after I became hypo, due to RAI treatment, I craved sweets and carbs all the time, but it's like my body can't process it anymore. Sounds weird, but that's the best way I can explain how I feel.

can someone tell me how to change my preferences to figure carbs instead of calories?

Malker, go to your food diary, look under the bold "My Food Diary", then you'll see the date, then underneath that you'll see three little boxes... The first box looks like a little gear- click on that one, and it'll lead you to your settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you'll find it. If you're on Atkins, I would recommend you choose net carbs, since that's what we count on Atkins. I have mine set on fat, net carbs, and protein, and it's helps me a lot, but just mess around with it and you'll figure out which ones work best for you. Only thing I don't like is that you can only pick 3 or 4 categories to see at a time.

You're welcome, Glen! Theres a website for it too, and if you sign up (it's free), they'll send you a welcome package with a few free atkins bars. But be mindful of the bars, they make some people stall. I only eat them in "emergencies"... I'm trying best my to stick with it, but it can be trying at times, especially when everyone else around you is eating your former favorite foods! But I feel so much better this way, and I soon as I go off it, I regret it because I go back to feeling crappy. It's not always restrictive, but the induction phase is, so if you try atkins, just have plenty of acceptable foods available, that way you won't be tempted to cheat! Even if you don't do atkins, don't give up! Even counting calories is good, so try not to get discouraged... Weight loss is so hard, and it just takes time. Thanks for always encouraging me, too... I always look foward to your comments!!
