So... I hurt my Achilles tendon on a short run Thursday... and decided to run my race this Saturday anyway. What was that we were talking about last week? Oh yeah... typical male stubbornness. LOL
I kept my foot iced and stayed in an ibuprofen daze most of Thursday and Friday so I could do the White Rock & Roll 5 Mile. I actually did pretty well (for me). I definitely felt the tightness during the first mile, but I got lucky and it loosened up after that. My time was 54:54. I'm not setting any speed records, but 11 min. miles are where I was hoping to be.
Of course, it may have been what was at the finish line that motivated me to keep going...
FREE BEER!LOL It was quite the sight. About 600 of Dallas' runners stumbling around buzzed at 10 o'clock in the morning. Hey, who could pass up free beer... and free Pizza Hut pizza... and free Krispy Kreme doughnuts... and free cookies... and a lot of other unhealthy stuff. I didn't go crazy, but it probably wasn't the best recovery food in the world.
Oh, and I took a quick pic when I got home. I wanted to see the change from this race (198 lbs.) and my first 5K (250+ lbs.). There seems to be a slight difference.
The biggest difference being the "Holy s*** I'm gonna die!" look on my face in the first one. That pic was taken right at the finish line. After which I promptly fell over in hopes that there was more oxygen near the ground. LOL
Aaaaand. I saw Wolverine Thursday night. On a scale of 1 to Awesome, I give it a "meh". I thought the acting was well done and I liked most of it, but it seemed too rushed. Then again, it could have just been that it was 2AM.
