Donna Mashburn's Journal, 08 July 2014

All right, let's be honest. I've lost my 30 pounds since starting my journey 16 months ago and I feel better than I have in a long time. I'm down from a size 18 to a size 12. I can do exercises now that I could just watch before and feel tired! So I've come a long ways....but emotionally and mentally, I have plateaued. My diet is more of maintenance than weight loss and other that a day or two spurt, I don't have the needed desire to stick with it day to day. Yeah, I'd still like to lose another 15-20 pounds, but dang!, it's hard; I'm frustrated. I'm tired of spending all this time on the computer journaling my every food and activity. WAH-WAH-WAH! I know.....I know....

Congratulations on going from size 18 to a size 12! If you reduce your sugary drinks you could reduce your calories.

I'm where you are. Tired of it, too. Allowing myself to go off the rails on the weekend... and having a harder and harder time getting back on, on Mondays. Keep it up. It's okay to take a mid-course break.

For the longest time I shunned soft drinks, but on a hot South Carolina day, nothing tastes better than a good, cold Mountain Dew. Coffee is my nemesis as I like mine blond and sweet--usually 2-4 cups a day. I work night shift and use it to stay awake. It doesn't help that I associate coffee with something sweet to eat like a cookie, or cake, or animal crackers. It doesn't help that I don't get enough sleep, either. Many times only 4-5 hours. Low fat isn't a problem for me but high carbs sure is......I read everyones journal entries and enjoy them but I also find them intimidating. How far will I have to go to get down to my goal weight? Live off a diet of chia seeds and kale? Trying to wrap my head around the reality of it all. The first thirty pounds simply involved cutting back on my extra things. Now it's gonna be cutting them out altogether. How badly do I want this? And for how long to stick with it? errrrrrrrrrr!
