>> The Strange Noise in the Kitchen <<

So as part of my reformed lifestyle I've decided to drink obscene amounts of hot green tea and water instead of coffee and other sodas and such that have empty calories. My house and car are literally spotted with empty mugs and tumblers with little tea tags hanging out of them.

So tonight I put on the kettle for my tea and it starts making a noise I've never heard before. This sort of low moan that seemed to say, "What are you doing this to me for?!" I don't think it is used to working so hard and is pushing back and trying to make excuses for why it doesn't want to work.

I tried doing that today. I woke up still sore but not AS sore as yesterday. I knew I'd have a long day at my internship today and the thought of going to the gym after seemed quite torturous to say the least. I started to make excuses like, "Well, I didn't pack my gym bag last night..." and "All of my work out shorts are dirty and I need to do laundry so maybe this is my one night to skip..."

But an amazing thing happened as I checked my phone for any overnight missed messages/Facebook updates/end-of-the-world reports. I had a group message from a bunch of my friends that started out with:
"Everyone needs to give Mitchell props for turning into a gym rat! Yeah Mitchell!!!"

And:

"Mitchell, we get one body to walk the world. I'm so proud of your gym rat ways. We are the only ones who get to decide to take care of us. The first step is starting, believing, and being consistent. I love that you're making time to love you. Big hugs!"

There were other such messages but those were the two that stood out to me. I've never been accused of being a gym rat and I kind of like the sound of it. Today was day 4 of 100 in my "trying to go to the gym for 100 days in a row" and I realized in just 4 days that people are watching me! So those messages, unsolicited and unexpected, gave me the courage to tough it out and work through the sore arms and go again.

Keeping that in mind I decided to give my kettle some encouragement so I picked it up, swirled the water around a bit, turned up the heat, and put it back on the fire.

Off I go to enjoy my mug of green tea!

Your posts inspire me! WTG!!! I need to get my tush to the gym. Yep, I'm still making excuses--cold, busy, blah blah...LOL. I have a treadmill right next to my bed. My excuse for not going to the gym? I don't have any cool outfits like everyone else. I was wearing my hubbies sweats before and my t-shirt. Then, I bought a couple cool ones when I lost weight. I gained it back and they don't fit. LOL.

Haha Well, cool, sporty outfits are fun but remember you are doing it for you, not for the people who may see you in the gym. I didn't have any clean shorts today so I wore my shorts from Tuesday. A little gross but then again, I'm not there to pick up the love of my life or impress anyone. Lord knows that won't happen with some of the gazelles that run on the treadmill next to me as I'm lumbering along huffing and puffing at 3.5mph. Just gotta do it! The gym sucks. But so does being overweight. Good Luck to you!!

3.5 mph is great. Take it day by day. Keep your eye on the prize.
