Dianehere's Journal, 11 January 2009

Just a journal entry -- not associated with a weigh-in, which is my usual MO. Spent lots of time this morning with SB info on-line. Found that I should not feel guilty about chili! Great! My husband is thrilled. I will just need to watch my portion size so that the beans are only 1/2 cup. I guess I have cleared up my confusion regarding amounts of olive oil or canola oil which may be used. I have come to the conclusion that I may use the amounts of these fats that are necessary to prepare my (otherwise allowable) foods. Mayo is limited, and nuts are limited, etc., but I do not find a limitation on the oils anywhere in my book or on-line. Am I missing something? Anybody out there on SB -- please straighten me out if I am messing up.

I am also coming to understand that it is VERY difficult (though not impossible) to lose weight while taking synthroid thyroid medication. This is a relatively new medication for me (couple of months). Again, anyone with knowledge gained from experience -- I would be grateful!

Guess that's about it. I intend to enjoy every minute of this winter Sunday with chili simmering in my electric skillet. Life is good.

You can use light mayo. Remember to use light not fat free as they are higher in sugar. I'll email you another wonderful site if you have not already seen it. I looked at your food diary, GREAT JOB, keep using that! Your sodium is probably pretty high. I love foods you eat like sauerkraut, but when I was losing weight, I had to strictly limit my pork intake and high sodium foods. I still have to watch them. Keep using your food diary,Ive seen it help people many times over. Keep reading. I found my SB book at a used book store for 3 bucks I think.
