We're in Paris!
We traveled through the morning yesterday, and arrived in Paris just around noon. It was an easy, effortless journey. We got settled in and situated in out little, cheap hotel room - which is nice and clean and half the price of everywhere else in sight - and went out on the town. We completely skipped lunch, as we were too busy traveling and finding our way, but did stop off for a croissant. That HAS to be your first meal, right?
It was wife's birthday yesterday, so after visiting Sacre Ceur, and peeking into a gorgeous cookie shop (see picture), we went to find a nice French restaurant. We had estragon as a starter. I was really curious about this, as I've never had snails before, but they we deliscious! I'll be having it again. Main curse was a nice sirloin steak and cheese for dessert. I wanted coffee with my cheese, but the waiter wouldn't allow this, but "as the flavors clash".
Silly me. Should have known better. Lol.
I haven't counted calories. I haven't written anything down. Today was a big breakfast with lots of white bread, cheeses and juice. Coffee too, but there are no calories there. I'm probably close to my spending budget on calories for today already. Lol. It's frickin' hard to do this here.
Since I have no clue about breakfast, I won't be counting today. I will, however, eat consciously the rest of the days, and see if I can do okay in general. I really need to not get bigger again, and we all know what vacationing does to us.
Of course I will still enjoy Paris. I will try the foods. I will enjoy my week here. I just gotta do it with this little goal in mind. I brought a sweat shirt back when I had surgery. I brought it. It's borderline too tight. Not acceptable. This is definitely a kicker that hopeful will help me focus on my mission through this week.
Today, I'm thankful for:
- Paris!
- Giving wife a trip to her dream city.
- Finding reasonable quality coffee. When Jean Reno was whining about the coffee in Godzilla, because he was missing French coffee, he clearly had no clue about DANISH coffee (Wife and I were desperate to get morning coffee after several failed attempts).
Life is good!
