Yay, up another .4oz . . . I really feel like not eating would help this problem but 1) I was never good at starving myself, plus I get horrible cramps at about 12-13 hrs w/o food, learned this via extreme exhaustion sleeping (NO BUENO!!) 2) It's hard enough NOT to eat the crap that's around this house when I AM eating. I took new measurements to see where I'm at after 2 weeks.

Measurements on 5/25/10
Biceps: L-17.5" R-16.25" ALOT of excess skin from previous weight loss
Bust: 45.75"
Under Bust: 40"
Waist: 48.5"
Hips: 55.75"
Thighs: L-32.75" R-32.5"
Calves: L-18.75" R-18.5"
*Biceps, thighs & calves were all measured at the largest part

Measurements 6/8/10
Neck: 13.5 (just decided to add this one in)
Biceps: L-17.5 R-17 (+.75)
Bust: 45.5 (-.25)
Under Bust: 39.75 (-.25)
Waist: 48 (-.5)
Hips: 55.25 (-.5)
Thighs: L-32.75 R-32.5
Calves: L-19 (+.25) R-18.75 (+.25) Yes I need more muscle in my calves, but I also need them to go DOWN in size, not UP!! This has ALWAYS been a problem, I have ginormous calves!!

So biceps & calves went up, thighs stayed the same & everything else went down. I guess that even if it is a minute difference I'll have to take it since the scale is doing it's very best to make me feel like all my efforts have been wasted! This is only the halfway mark, so hopefully come June 25th there'll be a BIGGER difference & the damn scale better be below 245 or I may very well give up.

Give up and do what? I mean, that's the problem with a diet mentality- if you give up and go back to the habits that caused the weight gain in the first place, you're pretty much guaranteed to gain more weight. And that will only make it more difficult in the future when you decide that you would like to lose it again- which you will. You can do this. Yeah, the scale is a pain in the ass, but you can't control it. You can only control what you eat and what you do and hope the scale cooperates. Keep doing what you're doing for a few more weeks and then if it still isn't working, reevaluate. It takes some trial and error to figure it out, but I know you can do it :)

I guess when I said give up, it was more of kicking my ass so hard doing what working out I can do w/o a gym & allow myself to eat bread & pastas again w/o counting calories. It's just extremely frustrating to always go through this (and I always do). I'm not one of the lucky people that gets to just drop lbs immediately. My weight ALWAYS goes up when I first start working out. The upside to walking 6 miles/day last year when I was doing this in Jan was that I didn't have a scale to weigh myself everyday, so I didn't have to deal w/ watching the weight go up. I'm impatient w/ myself, I always have been. Do I think I'd really give up even if the scale doesn't go down, no. I have absolutely NOTHING else to focus on at the moment. This is the ONLY thing keeping me from going back into a deep depression. Yes, I know I'll have to re-evaluate. And I do have to keep reminding myself that even though this isn't my highest weight, I'm at the highest %BF I've EVER been at. That more likely than not, as usual, I will gain muscle mass before I start losing any significant weight. Do I want the muscle, hell yes but the price is being patient. And learning to be patient w/ myself, that it's ok if I'm slow, is a process I'm learning. Even if it means re-learning it every single day. I know I can do this if I stick to it, that isn't a question & for once in my life I KNOW this to be true. I just need to be kind to myself & do the best I can w/ what I have to work w/ until my situation can change.

It's so normal to gain weight when you start exercising! I think a lot of people have the same frustration. Sounds to me like you should hide that scale from yourself :) I threw mine away. Now I can only weigh myself at the gym. Here's to better days ahead!
