Hello everyone just dropping by to let everyone know still around.
Well, last week took the my car for oil change & inspection stuff before we leave on the 18th, and needed a new battery.
Monday afternoon the crew started working on our basement, jackhammering the concrete floor in 14 spots where the piers will be placed. Well, after 2 days of listening to a jack hammer, and again this morning (crew has 2 more holes) I'm about ready for the luny bin !!!
Our basement has holes around the perimeter, plus all the dirt dug out stacked in piles.... oh my what a mess !!!
The whole process of installing the piers, which involves adding a steel plate under the foundation wall, then pushing the piers down to bed rock (in our case 32'), then once all piers are installed & set they raise the foundation the 1"... simply amazing ! After foundation is raised, then the dirt is filled back in the holes, concrete is poured & whalha my basement will be back :)
Then we get to start the cleaning process, my upstairs especially where the crew comes from outside & down the basement steps is a mess.
So needless to say my life has been a little stressfull :)
Also found out yesterday the post office made a mistake on when to start our forwarding mail, they mis-read the form & thought our mail was to start forwarding on Oct 8.... I told the postal delivery person, no we're still here, it's suppose to start Oct 18th !! So a trip to the post office was necessary, hope this gets corrected.
Our eating has been sporadic because trying to empty freezer and frig., so there's lots of chicken ! Still exercising & doing pilates up until we leave.
Just wanted to give everyone a clue of why I've not been around.
Everyone have a great rest of the week, and will stay in touch !

I cannot imagine living with all that noise! But at least this year when you head off to Arizona (see, I got the right state this time!) you'll have peace of mind knowing that your house will be just where you left it. Try to stay sane!

NF, years ago we had repairs done to our basement, but not nearly as extensive as what you're describing. I still remember that jackhammer noise - it can drive you insane!!! Too bad this couldn't be done after you're gone, but then who'd supervise, I suppose. At least you'll have a safe, stable house after all this is done. Hope you keep good weather for all this so they can get it done and be gone!
