Evil_Angel_Shay's Journal, 19 May 2010

Just got back for a 6 mile walk in the park. I took it easy today as it's been awhile since I've done it & I know how much it hurts when pushing myself hardcore on the first day. That and I don't want to lose motivation to do it again this week. I need to get in the habit of going at least twice a week before my 10 miles/wk challenge begins.

I know most people would say it's pure laziness, but I definitely prefer working out OUTSIDE of my home. Thus my LOVE for the gym! Being a homebody is easy but just as easily fuels & adds to my depression cycles. As I won't have a gym to go to again until I start back up at school in late Aug, I have to find ways to exercise that don't mentally kill me. I've done workouts on tv that are On Demand from Fit Tv but I'm not finding any enjoyment from them. As much as I don't like riding my bike through town I do have to keep telling myself it's a million times better than any treadmill! I honestly don't think I can force myself to use my sister's treadmill again. That had to be the longest 30 mins of my life! (Why she can't just love ellipticals like me, I don't know : p ).

But I know I've got to do something. The idleness is killing. Idle hands are the devil's playground, but so is an idle mind!

You can do it!! And i'm so proud of you! 6 miles is a LONG way to hike :) Hopefully it will start getting warm around here that i can do more outside and actually run on a local track instead of the treadmill in the basement. Thank goodness for good music because you're right, i definitely get tired of staring at the wall for 30 minutes.

6 miles...whoooo. Great job and glad we are buddies. Surely reading these will get me going.

I know 6 miles is something to be proud of, but if I had an elliptical I'd be doing 7 miles in less time. BUT, for now I'll just have to be positive & stick w/ this, lol. Betsy - I can't imagine having to stare at the wall everyday. When I used my sister's tredmill that's what I did & it about drove me nuts! I'm used to being at the gym watching a tv but listening to my music. Anything to focus my eyes on so that I'm not watching the time. But hopefully the weather will get better soon. It's a drizzle rainy day here in northern CA. The last 30 mins of my walk I got damp, but it wasn't bad. I've done the same walk in a down pour before : p Tifany - always here to give support & motivation. I just need to get back into journaling. For my own personal reasons I've been quiet but I think that time has passed. Glad we're buddies too = D

I love to exercise . . . at the GYM! Getting out of the house, having a multitude of machines to work all different parts of my body, a pool to get my laps in & a hot tub to relax the muscles at the end. But alas I shall have to wait till Aug to have all that back. I'm running on 4 hrs of sleep b/c my allergies have been so bad today & it's pretty breezy outside. Still debating whether I'm going to do the walk again today or not.
