I'm frustrated. I guess I wish the weight would just come off, and I know I have to exercise to get it to do that. It would just be so much easier if I had a buddy nearby to go to the gym with. Oh well. I don't know yet if we're going to cancel our Y membership and get the elliptical...maybe I'll sit Greg down tonight and decide. Because I really need to be doing SOMETHING.
Anyway, just need to get motivated to do everything - work, clean house, eat right, and exercise. I think part of the reason is because it feels so odd not to be in school!

Yep, I know how you feel about not having a bud to workout with. It makes a big difference when you have someone there to motivate you. I workout alone so I use all the buddies here on fatsecret as movitation to keep me going...and it works. So yep, definitely get some exercise in and make a part of you daily lifestyle. It will make a huge positive effect on your weight loss.
I would also say that if the Y still fits into your budget, don't cancel it just yet. At least there you'll have a variety of things you can do to workout instead just having an elliptical at home. But still, you know what's best. So whatever you chose to do hang in there & get some exercise in. You can do it!

Yes, you can do it! I did it!!! I always used the excuse "if only I had someone to work out with" and never got anywhere. Last July, I decided to start running on my own. It was immediately so rewarding that I kept up with it even though I started off really slow. It is now February and I am still running! I can't believe it! I have bever been able to keep up with some form of exercise for so long without getting sick of it.
I've wasted a lot of money on gyms because I always quit after a month or 2. I always thought... "If I pay for it, I GOTTA use it, right?" I knew I would never keep up with it unless I could do it all on my own without a gym first. I did it on my own and now I'm going to a gym to keep it up over the bad winter months.

I know they say it is easier to stay motivated with a workout buddy but I've never had one so I wouldn't know! I use my results as my motivator and know that if I don't keep it up, the results won't keep up either. Some workouts are best done on your own anyway, like running. I couldn't imagine trying to keep pace with someone else. But whatever you decide to do, fitting it into your life and making it a priority is what will make the exercise work for you. Stay positive and have a great day!

If you can afford an elliptical, it is a good choice. I know that having my elliptical sitting in the living room staring me in the face everyday has definitely kept me using it more consistenly than if I had to go to the gym to workout. Plus, there's a much bigger feeling of "I spent a lot of money on it, I really need to get my money's worth" than if you just pay for a gym membership, because it's not that big of a mental dedication. You'll do great whatever you do, you just have to stick with it!
