looking for a weekly buddy
PS - don't forget the comma - I just checked and if you don't include the comma your search comes up empty. Just go to Community tab, select Groups, and you can search for us there.

looking for a weekly buddy
A few of us have started a small group, (started a week or so ago, we're only up to nine members) It's called Progress, not Perfection - I think you search for us by that. It started out as middle aged women with 25-50 pounds to lose, but we've got a few ladies that have more than that to lose that joined because they liked us
and we like them too. Most of us end up posting daily, for accountability, but you wouldn't have to if you didn't want to, and the support has been wonderful. Check us out if you like, it's not a private group so you can read through the messages before you decide to join, or you can just lurk if you like

Looking for Fitness Buddy, for Accountability
Ok, I started the group. Hope it suits? I think I invited you, not really sure since I don't know what the heck I'm doing
I also think I accepted your buddy request? I was trying to figure out how to send one and there was an option to accept yours so I did. Here goes nothin'!

Looking for Fitness Buddy, for Accountability
Ok MJ ... lets do this. (sigh/smile)
I'm at 171, so it looks like we're both about even. I'm pretty short though (5'2"
so that's pretty heavy for me. Here's a little bit of my story:
47 years old, 2 grown kids who don't live at home. 1 room mate but she does her own thing. I teach computer repair and A+ preparation at a vocational school within a rehab center. So I am not really desk bound, I'm up and down a good bit, with some occasional lifting of computers and equipment but I do get the students to do most of the heavy work so I can't really count it as physical exercise
After years of cooking for a crowd I'm on my own now and I'm tired of cooking and don't have an oven right now anyway (long story), so I've ended up eating a lot of lean cuisine type/ww frozen meals and shortcut stuff.
I have to be honest enough with myself to admit that if it's not easy I just won't do it. I am back to counting calories right now as atkins kinda grosses me out and I like my carbs too much to give them up completely. I'm terrible about eating vegetables, not good about water, or exercise. I have a gym membership but rarely use it. You'd think carrying that silly keybob tag around and paying $20/month would help but noooooo, you still have to actually GO there (sigh)...
Portion control is a big part of my issues, and making good choices of course... and I've already mentioned that I don't want to spend a ton of time in the kitchen. I was at Walmart today and found the Hormel Compleats meals... kind of high in sodium but man do they taste good, and plenty of food for the calories, and no refrigeration/freezing required. I only bought a couple to see how they tasted and I'm pretty impressed with the first one.
What I REALLY need to do is limit my liquid calorie intake and drink more water. Problem is I just really don't like water, and I know the diet powder crap isn't good for me either.
ARGH! SUCH A QUANDRY
If I get just a couple more responses to this message, we can start our own group and hopefully it will stay active? Honestly, if I just post to you everyday it would probably help a lot.
Tomorrow I vow to drink at least 32 ounces of water and count every calorie that passes my lips. I've already been weighing daily just to keep an eye on things.
How did you get that little weight bar to appear under your post?

Looking for Fitness Buddy, for Accountability
Staunton, Virginia, 47 - new diagnosis, Sacroilliac Joint Disorder - Tired of the upward spiral. Kids are grown, finally got a good job, but it's not a very active one. Weight has gone up and down for years but now spiraling upward. I'm sick of it, need motivation and accountability. Most of the groups here number in the thousands and I need small group interactions to be comfortable. Anyone nearby? or far away but can identify?
