Hello, my name is Tricia and I live in Houston, TX. I currently work full time at my job and also last year started my own art business to sell my arts and crafts. I'm 59 (turning 60 this year, which feel so strange). I have had a life long weight issue. I love food of all kinds, which doesn't help. I especially have had ongoing issues with sweets - sugar intake. I have a history of being an emotional eater and a stress eater. I have suffered from depression and anxiety over the years, and still do. I have two dogs and I absolutely love animals. I enjoy walking the dogs, hiking, nature areas, etc. My goal is to reduce my calories to a healthy level, lose weight, and get more fit. Since my best friends do not have the same kinds of eating issues (if any), I need to get my support from everybody here at FatSecret.

Help needed for breaking weight plateau
If I eat high sodium foods - even if I stay within my calorie range - I will show gain or not lose. Apparently I retain water with high sodium. I don't know if that happens to you or not. My doctor told me that weight loss is all about what we eat and not as much about exercise. She said we need to exercise for our fitness and heart health, but we need to eat moderately and healthy foods to lose weight. Maybe averaging fewer than 2000 will help? Sorry, I'm not much help.

Sugar Cravings
I have always had the same problem. I am trying to limit myself to just very high percentage cocoa dark chocolate (like the ghirardelli intense 72% or 86% dark chocolate) after the meal. When I was growing up, dessert immediately followed dinner regardless of how full you might be. That habit is hard to break. I read that if you stop eating the super high sugar or even artificially sweetened stuff that tastes super sweet - and substitute high quality dark chocolate instead - just a square - that it can help. I let the chocolate kind of dissolve in my mouth so it lasts longer and I feel more satisfied. Just a thought.

why are the caloires on this tracker less than other trackers
I haven't noticed a difference. The one thing with Fat Secret is to make sure the portion quantity is correct. Sometimes that is challenging for me because the quantity that come up may not be the amount that I ate - like the serving size is 1 cup but I ate 1/2 cup so I have to change the quantity to .50 of 1 cup to get it right.
