I started this journey on my 49th birthday on July 28,2011 at 230 lbs with diabetes that was out of control and blood glucose readings of over 255. My goal WAS to reach 140 lbs by my 50th birthday and put my diabetes into remission.
UPDATE June 3, 2013
Gained my weight back plus some due to stress, depression and life in general. My blood glucose is not were it should be but I am confident that in a couple of weeks I will once again have it under control.
I am 2 months away from my 51st birthday and just celebrated my 32nd wedding anniversary.
I gained weight the day I said "I do" 32 yrs ago and have been gaining ever since. My highest weight was 7 yrs ago, I weighed 254lbs. I am only 5'5". After I got married my running around days were officially over and I was cooking 3 big meals a day. Then the kids came along and with each pregnancy I gained even more weight. I never took time out for me. At the time it just seemed impossible between working full time and practically raising my kids on my own (husband was over the road trucker). I used genetics as my excuse also. Then as predicted by genetics I found out I was diabetic. Still I did not change a thing because I still had many excuses. Now 9 yrs later my diabetes is out of control and I just turned 50. I feel 30 yrs older than I should.
