I started this journey on my 49th birthday on July 28,2011 at 230 lbs with diabetes that was out of control and blood glucose readings of over 255. My goal WAS to reach 140 lbs by my 50th birthday and put my diabetes into remission. I did reach 206lbs and lowered my A1C to 6.1. Then life happened, job loss, New job, moving, family illness. The list goes on but I now know I just used life's events as my excuses to be lazy. No matter what life throws at me I still have to take care of me.

I am now 55 yrs old and my new goal is 150lbs, but my health is what I am focusing on. Besides being diabetic I also have IBS-D and it has made my life miserable.

I joined dietdoctor dot com and I am now on the LCHF keto way of life. Already just one month later my glucose has dropped and I no longer need insulin plus my IBS-D seems to be under control. It's amazing how changing your food choices can change your life.

I started this on July 8,2017 at 233lbs and my A1C was 9.1.
My first goal is to reach 219lbs and an A1C of 6.0 or less, without any meds.

I will update my bio as I go forward.

Net Carbs?
There are 2 ways to change it.
There is a link in your food diary under where is tells you how many calories you ate that says "edit preferences" click that and scroll to the bottom and you will see the net carbs box there.

You can also go to "Account Settings" and it will take you to the same page.

Milk vs heavy cream...
Missychick21 - you need to find the heavy cream that has zero carbs. I buy mine from WalMart and it is the Great Value brand. Just read the labels until you find the right one. Hope that helps.

Adrenal Failure

I am also under a lot of stress and my scale is hardly budging BUT in one week I have lost an inch off my tummy. I figure eventually my scale will work with me.
