Yesterday I had to go home from work. I work at an OB/Gyn office so it makes it really easy to be seen while pregnant. They just fit me in when they are ahead on the schedule (yes it does happen), when they have a cancellation, or at the end of the day. I was bleeding so they checked me. The midwife said everything is OK. They rechecked my hcg hormone levels and they are going up, uP, UP! :D As they should... PLUS! They did an ultrasound and I GOT TO HEAR MY BABY'S HEARTBEAT!!!! It was such a reassuring sound. I could see the little heart beating on the screen and my eyes teared up. I had no expectation of hearing or seeing it yesterday. It was amazing!
I got a whole list of books and websites from my friend who is a doula. She lives in Colorado but said she would fly out to assist if she could. In the meantime she is my biggest support, keeping me positive and knowledgeable. She suggested reading up on the Brewer Diet for Pregnancy. It is very well-rounded and a lot like what I am doing anyway, the only thing is that the calories they recommend are 2200 minimum to support a healthy pregnancy. I am assuming that is beginning from the second trimester. I'm going to read more about it.
So I am still home from work. Midwife orders. I'm on "bed rest" so I really need to go lay down now.

sararay's wisdom nutrition woe
16 June 2009
So the goal for the next 6 weeks is to NOT GAIN. My goal is to not go above 168. I feel pretty good except for a few waves of morning sickness. They say it gets worse from 7-11 weeks. I am 6w 4d.
I am OK as long as I don't let myself get too hungry. Small meals spaced a few hours apart seem to be working. Plus the B-Natal losenges are great for MS too.
