I spent ten years flying for the Air Force and stayed in pretty good shape throughout. But I noticed that after 25, the frequent moving and deployments stunted any improvements in my fitness. It was always a matter of deploy, lose strength & speed, get home and fight to get back in shape. The longer I was in the service, the more paperwork I had to contend with as well.

After I left the AF at 32 (healthy) the wear-and-tear injuries suddenly started popping up. I wasn't able to run or lift weights so the pounds started adding up. When I rejoined the AF (Jersey Air Guard) at age 38 I had the unfortunate realization that my uniforms no longer fit. That's when I really saw my belly for the great Buddha it had become.

I'll never be 25 again... but I don't have to look and feel like an old man... yet. ;)
