In my late teens and 20s I never had a problem with my weight, allthough I wasn'''t the smallest guy in the classroom. So I never really worried about gaining weight.
I did shy away from sports because I didn't have the strength, endurance, and stamina, but always hit the books. Upon graduating from college and getting an accounting job, I became a sedentary person.
My metabolism started to slow down and, to deal with the stress from work, I would eat a lot. It also didn't help that my buddies always got together and we'd eat tons of junk food and drink all the time.
This was easier than doing any physical activity. And as my pant size increased I kept deluding myself that it was just natural since I wasn't young anymore. Finally, in december 2010 I got some problems with my heart and started to have sympthoms of depression.
Also I couldn't believe how bad I looked, my wight was 260lb (130kg). When I went in for a check-up with my doctor, they drew some blood as a normal procedure. When I went back for the results, I was given the bad news that I had high cholesterol and with my family history, could suffer from diabetes and/or heart disease.
The first thing I did afterwards was filling everything I eat on fatsecret. This helps me keeping track on my earlier calculated max daily kcal. consumption on a day. Also started working out a bit, tried to do it 3 times a week.
From Jan. 2011 I lost about 40lb(20KG) and started to increase my proteins to gain muscle and did 3-4 times a week cardio. Adding that I lost onother 20lb(10kg). Currently (July 2012) I have lost in total 60lb (30kg) and now I started to look more to my food, meaning to minimize to eat processed food, only eat clean carbs like oat, brocolli, beans, brown rice. Also my proteins come from healthy products like Eggs, turkey, chicken, beef, whey protein shakes. And the fat I eat come from nuts like not-salted peanuts, walnuts or olive oil, peanutbutter (bio).
