performance: losing 3.0 lb a week

Married almost 19 years, with 2 kids (son age 14 and daughter age 10).
I work full time in advertising/marketing in Southern California. I have had a lifetime struggle with weight. I'm so tired of the battle and feeling like I'm missing so much of life that's out there. My 2013 goal is to reach and exceed my lowest weight as an adult that I can remember (235 lbs., which was 20 years ago).

Buffet
Oooh, buffets are danger zone for me, too. Going on a cruise next week so I've been mulling over in my head how I'm going to get through it and make good choices.

Don't feel bad. It was just a single poor choice to indulge. You have many more opportunities this week to make good choices. Good luck!

On my own!!!
My #1 motivator since embarking on my new healthy lifestyle at the beginning of this year has been NOT focusing on weight loss. Instead, I am focusing on GAINING HEALTH. Eating healthy foods at moderate portions and moving and strengthening my body regularly makes me feel great and I want this feeling to last the rest of my life. That feeling motivates me!

Dusted off the treadmill
YAYYYY! Good for you. If you can just hop on there a few times a week to start, it will become a habit and hopefully then you'll feel like increasing time or days.

A few tips that helped me:

1. Make your treadmill area as pleasant as possible to make you want to spend time there. Put a TV in there, put motivational pictures nearby, put it by a nice window for light and breeze (or get a fan), etc.

2. Good music - I made some custom treadmill workout playlists for myself in iTunes using music I already owned, and that has helped me a lot! I've created about 6 or 7 different playlists for different moods: Hip Hop, Indie, all Mumford & Sons (my fave band), GirlPower, PopPower, Old School 80's, etc. Each playlist is 30-34 minutes and I even timed the beats per minute (BPM) to start slower, get fast in the middle for most of the workout, and then the last song is slower for cool down and stretching. Some of the songs I put in the faster sections even motivate me to jog for a minute or two, which is really a feat for me!

Keep it up, girl! Wink

What is it?
That just indicates that your net calories for the day are in the negative, that you burned off more calories than you consumed. That is the goal if you're trying to lose, so green arrow = GOOD. Smile

Avocados
I put sliced or diced avocado on eggs and use often in sandwiches and wraps as mars2kids mentioned.

I also recently started using them in smoothies. They add healthy fat and really make a smoothie creamy and delicious. I always just make up smoothie recipes with whatever I happen to have in the fridge and freezer. This morning I made one with: 1 cup 0% Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup diced avocado, 1 small frozen banana, 1 cup fresh spinach and 1 cup orange juice. It was quite big, so probably could be 2 servings. But I drank the whole thing.Very Happy
