Pretty much all my life I’ve been heavier. In high school I started playing sports and dropped to my lowest weight of 175. I thought I looked great and felt great at 175, so that’s where I want to get back to. Good thing I saved a pair of pants from my high school days, I can’t wait to fit in them again. I never really weighed myself, and so when I stepped on a scale in January 2010 I was surprised to see 220 lbs. I decided then that I needed to walk my dog more and make changes. When I started FS and entered my starting weight, I had already lost 5 lbs! Yay!

I reached the 200lb mark at the end of Aug 2010 and I’ve had trouble getting past that wall since, and ended up giving up. I recently went to the doctor’s and he congratulated me on the amount of weight I’ve lost so far and encouraged me not to give up and gave me some tips on getting past this 200lb wall. My first change is going to be a strict no more than 2000 calorie diet. I’m very surprised by the amount of calories that are in foods! I can’t believe I used to eat 4 pieces of pizza like it was nothing and that’s pretty much an entire day of calories! I want this to be a lifestyle change. I want to feel better about my self, and be able to do more.

Outdoor jogging tips
I'm not lucky enough to get to go jogging in the morning. I have to go in the afternoon. But I do the same thing Michelle1970 does. I zone out and count my breaths. If you haven't ever tried to control your breathing while jogging, then it will be a little hard at first, but you will get used to it. I have a bright pink and bright orange top that I wear instead of a reflector vest, and BELIEVE me, it is very unflattering. But after the first could mins, I just don't care anymore. All that matters is the road ahead and my breaths.
When I get nervous, I just tell myself that they may be laughing at me in their car; but at least I'm out here doing something, and one day I will look good doing it.

Help with a co-worker that NOW knows it all
We are having a Biggest Loser type challange at work and everyone is doing way better than I am. I've been eating excellent and am active every day, it was REALLY frusterating me. When they would all tell me what to do, I would just politely say that I will do this my way and that I appreciate it if they would not tell me what to do.
I encourage you to just tell her that. Its better than feeling bad about yourself.
I'd also like to point out that when people first start eating healthy and exercising more, it seems like they lose weight quick. But after a while, you need to work for every pound. Or at least that's the way it happened for me.

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
1) I want to look the same size as everyone else in pictures. I hate looking at pictures and automatically knowing which one I am because of my size.
2) I want to feel more confident about myself.
3) I want to see if I can lose the weight. Its a big test of will power and self disipline. I haven't been known for being strong in those areas, so now is a time to change.
4) I always had knee pain. Even with the 26lbs I already lost, my pain has SIGNIFICANTLY decreased. I thought running or jogging would make it worst, but it didn't. I'm imprressed.

A new outlook
I went to a Jack in the Box to get an orange juice and coffee on my way out of town. I forgot to eat breakfast, but good thing I keep oatmeal bars with me! Anyways, the man in the car in front of me ordered a Sirloin burger with bacon, large fries, and a large coke. I went online and that was around 1800 calories. I was floored! That's almost your daily intake of calories. But I have to admit there was a time when I would have ordered a giant meal from there and eaten all of it.
The cashier at the grocery store gaves me props for all the veggies, and lack of crap that I bought. He said that its alarming how many people buy just snack food, and boxed dinners. No real meat or real veggies to be seen!
