Really, I'm your average girl next door. Just not "average" in size. Fall in New England is my favorite time of year. Summers are spent working hard at my job and generally includes a LOT of overtime. I do find time for my favorite passtime.....fishing - wading every brook/stream that I can find searching for that elusive monster trout....still looking! I had my own Harley until last summer....sold it and I'd like to have another one day. Currently, not in a realtionship and I'm not ready to be. Have a 28 year old son who is my pride and joy....an absolutely terrific young man.
Looking forward to getting the "me" back that I'm accustomed to -
that process begins today....right here.

Update: The above was written Nov. 2nd, 2007 - Who would ever have thought that today - March 8th, 2008 - I'd still be on this quest for a healthier me....?? I'm amazed at my progress, determination, focus and above all - I'm absolutely astonished at the amount of love and support that goes around this site....

I do have a confession though....When I weighed in here for the first time, I could NOT bring myself to put in my weight of just over 300 pounds....My doc had me recorded at 308....and 295 just sounded sooooo much better (as bad as that was!) - To date, (using the doc's recorded weight) I've lost an amazing 56 pounds....and still going strong!

South Beach Diet Salad Dressings
Kraft and South Beach have *teamed up*in the last few months to produce a line of South Beach friendly foods.....I buy the SB 1% cottage cheese (by Kraft of course) and it's yummy.....a bit less fat and 1 less gram of carb.....In our groc store - we have several varieties of SB dressings.....I think they are here to stay! Sure HOPE so anyway!

"AROUND THE WORLD" (in 42 Days)
As a group we had to travel (through activitiy) 24,906 miles in 6 weeks (4,151 miles per week)to make it AROUND THE WORLD in those 42 Days.

I am THRILLED to report that ALL teams made the journey and ALL had miles to spare!!! AWESOME EFFORTS & FOCUS to you ALL....

Week 6 Travel Miles


Explorers arrive in FIRST Place with 889.4 miles - an excess of 197.4 miles for the week.
Adventurers were hot on their trail with 827 miles - an excess of 135 miles for the week.
Voyagers arrived with 745.8 miles to their credit - an excess of 53.8 miles for the week.
Navigators had 644.8 miles travelled leaving a defecit of 47.2 miles for the week.
Trail Blazers come in with 606 miles and also a defecit of 86 miles for the week.
Globe Trotters arrived with 566 miles behind them and also a defecit of 126 miles for the week.

6 WEEK SUMMARY


Explorers 31,857 minutes 531 hours 5574.6 miles
Adventurers 29,062 minutes 484.4 hours 5085.8 miles
Navigators 27,382 minutes 456.4 hours 4792.0 miles
Voyagers 25,188 minutes 419.8 hours 4408.0 miles
Trail Blazers 24,841 minutes 414.0 hours 4347.2 miles

I'm sooooo VERY PROUD of all of you....Each team got their required 4,151 miles in with some to spare!

NAVIGATORS!!!
Calculating percentages is preferred by some for total weight lost since some folks only have a few pounds to lose and it IS harder....! Those of us with a lot to lose - lose it more quickly till we get closer to goal....

The percentage is calculated as follows....

This is an actual example from the spread sheet:

Start weight: 247
Weigh in: 244
Pounds lost: 3

Divide the pounds lost by the start weight and that gives you a 1.21% total body weight lost.....

Start weight: 127
Weigh in: 125
Pounds lost 2
Gives a percentage lost of 1.57%

So even though example 1 lost 3 pounds - Example 2 lost a bigger percentage.

When I set up the teams - they were even in starting weights - within 20 pounds.....I spread the lighter weighted folks and those of us who are heavier throughout the teams as evenly as possible....knowing that the more you have to lose - the faster it comes off if you stay focused......

Personally, I prefer the pounds lost method....but the challenge's here have been done based on total percentages.....
